A suspected killer in Detroit who allegedly barricaded himself in a house with kidnapped child has been arrested and faces multiple charges, according to police.

The man, Deveius Monta Weathers, 29, is accused of killing a man, Ronnie Charles Ray II, 31, during an argument at a barbecue. He's also accused of fleeing from a home where police found him on Monday, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said in an email to Newsweek on Friday. According to prosecutors, police arrived at a residence on Sunday and found Ray "laying in the driveway unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds."

"Defendant Weathers had a verbal disagreement with Mr. Ray at a barbeque at a friend's house. It is alleged that Weathers produced a handgun and shot the victim twice and left the scene in his car," prosecutors wrote.

When police located Weathers and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, he allegedly fled in his car at a "high rate of speed" and then ran into a house, where he is accuse of barricading himself in a home "with a two-year-old girl that he kidnapped."

"After a five-hour long standoff, he exited the house holding the child in front of him. He was taken into custody by the Detroit Police Department," the prosecutors added.

Weathers has been First Degree Murder, Kidnapping, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Fleeing and Eluding Third-Degree, and Felony Firearm, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Also this week, police in Muncie, Indiana, said that a man killed his neighbor after he believed the victim had hacked into his home's electricity.

According to a sheriff's affidavit, the man confronted the neighbor, and "exited his truck with a Winchester 12 gauge pump shotgun" shooting the man four times "with the intent to kill him."

In a separate incident in Texas in June, a mass shooting at a barbecue saw two people killed and five others injured.

"A family was barbecuing out in front of the house and someone drove by and unloaded on them, firing off about twenty or thirty rounds," said San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus, said at the time. The chief said that he believes the shooting was a targeted incident, and that there were several children inside the home during the shooting.

In Virginia in May, a shooting at a large party left seven people injured and one dead.
