Man Confronts Armed Far-Right Militia in Video: 'Get Your Guns Outta Here'

Over the weekend, an Ann Arbor man was caught on camera interrupting a demonstration led by members of the far-right "Boogaloo" movement.

The armed militia members were allegedly at the scene protesting increased police militarization in the area—all while carrying assault rifles of their own.

In a video, which was posted to Twitter, an unidentified passerby confronts the so-called protestors, who stand on a street corner fully armed in combat gear.

"What the f***?" the local man says, assessing the Boogaloo group. "We don't need this, man."

Calmly, he describes the Michigan town as "a peaceful community." "We've been through a pandemic," he says. "We've lost thousands."

Losing his patience, he continues: "Get your f***ing guns out of here, man!"

"Your police are still killing people," one Boogaloo member replies. "Is it okay for them to kill people with guns?"

"No, it's not, but it's not for you either, you guys," replies the Ann Arbor resident.

"We're not killing anyone," insists the Boogaloo member.

"You are not the police. You are a militia," said the bystander. He tells the group that they are not "in charge" and to "read the law." Several of them reply, telling the man to "read the Constitution."

At one point, the local man also asks the militia members if they were "part of that thing in Washington," presumably referring to the January 6th insurrection on the Capitol.

"No, god, no," replies the Boogaloo member. He explains that they identify as centrist Libertarians.

The conflict continues, with neither side backing down. Finally, the man asks, "Why don't you just take your ... steroid-shrunken nuts ... out of Ann Arbor, man?"

"Because," the Boogaloo member replies, "no one else will fight for the people."

"F*** off, Nazis," the man says, walking away from the scene.

All over Twitter, users are responding to the militia group's appearance in left-leaning Ann Arbor and commending the bystander's intervention.

"I miss y'all so much, people of Ann Arbor. Give these Boogaloo Boys hell," wrote one Twitter user.

"Assault weapons and tactical gear? And they're protesting the militarization of police? Ooookaaaayyy," commented another.

The "Boogaloo" movement—the members of which are often called "Boogaloo Boys"—refers to a loosely-connected group "that pulls from a lot of different movements," including "ultra-right-wing or 'alt-right' extremists...militia groups, anarchists...white supremacist groups," and "internet fringe groups who refer to the Boogaloo as the coming of a second American Civil War."
