The internet has slammed a man for asking his girlfriend to take down a "heart-shaped frame" she has of her father next to her bed.

Published to Reddit's "AmITheA**hole" forum, a man under the anonymous username u/throwaway8238236 shared his story for the community to determine if he was in the wrong. The viral post has 2,000 upvotes and 2,000 comments.

The 23-year-old Reddit user explained that he is in the middle of moving in with his girlfriend. While he stayed at her place a few times, he noticed that she had a picture of her father when he was younger placed in a heart-shaped picture frame.

"I don't know what purpose she has for a picture of her dad when he was young and not so dadish. Plus, he's alive and well and she sees him often so I don't understand any display of family members, and it's the only family picture she has," he wrote.

When is it "too soon" to move in with your significant other? It is recommended to wait one year to discuss the idea of moving in together, but you should consider waiting up to two years to actually move in, according to thecoldwire.com.

When bringing it up with his girlfriend, he argued that he doesn't want to see a man that he didn't know whenever he woke up. He stated that he has nothing against her father, but he didn't know him when the picture was taken. He told her he thought it was "weird" and insisted that she move it.

The Redditor wrote: "She got upset, saying she's had it since she was a little girl and she's always been close and loved her dad very much. I told her I think it's weird she has a picture of her dad at a similar age to her currently in a heart shaped frame."

"She started crying and accusing me of making her relationship with her dad weird," he continued.

She said that she would turn the picture over at night so he didn't see it, but he still refused. His girlfriend made him leave and he said they haven't spoken since the argument.

Redditors were quick to slam the original poster (OP) in the comments.

"YTA. Stick to your guns and don't move in. She deserves better," u/NUT-me-SHELL received the top comment with 12,000 upvotes.

"She's right, you're the one being creepy. It's a picture of her dad that she has had since she was a young child. If you're threatened by that, the issue is you, not the picture," u/photosbeersandteach exclaimed.

U/somissmatched stated, "What a weird thing to be upset over. Because he's alive she can't have pictures of him? And it has to be a current picture because you didn't know him then? Jesus I'd dump you and keep the picture if I were her."

"I'm at a loss for words," u/HoldImpressive2869 wrote, "It's quite common for ppl to have photos of their family out."
