Internet commenters were infuriated after one woman revealed why she pulled the plug on an international vacation at the last minute.

Posting on Reddit's popular r/AmITheA**hole forum, Redditor u/ThrowRAeconomy550 (otherwise referred to as the original poster, or OP) said she was finally invited on one of her husband's many vacations but detailed her disappointment upon realizing his offer wasn't as sweet as it seemed.

Titled, "[Am I the a**hole] for returning home after I found out that my husband booked 1st class for him and his friend while I got economy?" the post has received nearly 17,000 upvotes and 4,000 comments in the last seven hours.

"My husband and I...haven't been on a trip (out of country) for years," OP began. "He goes every year with his best friend."

Continuing to explain that her husband and his best friend travel together to attend sporting events around the world, the original poster said that this year, he asked her to accompany them and covered all her expenses. However, when the trio arrived at the airport, it became clear that the original poster's travel experience would be different from the sports fanatics'.

"When I found out that he had booked 1st class for himself and his friend while I got economy. I just couldn't hold my tongue," OP wrote. "I confronted him about it...when the argument got heated he yelled 'I PAID FOR YOUR TICKET [FOR F**K'S SAKE] ISN'T THAT ENOUGH?"

"[He] kept on about how I should stop acting like I was 'royalty' and that...even economy is fine for me since I 'technically' don't work anyway," OP continued. "I cried because of what he said but decided to just not go altogether.

"His friend sent me a text calling me entitled, and said this was the reason why he didn't want my husband to take me with them," OP added. "My husband said I keep crying about being excluded and this is what happens when he finally decides to include me."

As quickly as inflation rates have risen since the beginning of the year, airfare has increased even more rapidly.

From June 2021 to June 2022, flight prices rose by 25 percent, marking the largest increase in the last three decades, according to CNBC. In April alone, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that prices shot up by 18.6 percent, the largest monthly job since 1963.

Earlier this year, data published by flights website Hopper showed that the average cost of a domestic round-trip flight in the United States was $290. For an international round-trip? $730.

Factoring in the differences between first class and economy tickets, the decision to invite an extra guest on a vacation out of the country is not an easy one.

But when that extra guest is your wife and the mother of your children, many Redditors believe that decision should be much easier—and made without exclusionary measures.

"If you're a [stay at home mom] then all the money he earns is SHARED FUNDS," Redditor u/RaysUnderwater wrote in the viral post's top comment, which has received more than 40,000 upvotes. "There is no 'him' paying, in fact, you paid for his first class ticket as much as he paid for your economy ticket."

"The level of disrespect is astounding," they added. "[Not the a**hole]."

Redditor u/anon_user77, whose comment has received more than 9,000 upvotes, offered a similar response.

"Sounds like your husband is more interested in keeping an unpaid nanny/caretaker rather than a wife/partner/equal," they wrote. "If this post is a reflecting of how your husband treats you on [a] a daily basis, please please walk away."

"What he did was basically telling [you] if I'm forced to bring you on this trip, it's gonna happen on my terms, as the breadwinner, and that's kinda f**ked up," another commenter added, receiving nearly 2,000 upvotes.
