A woman's amicable rejection of a man ended badly when he called her "ugly" and told her to "humble" herself, igniting an intense debate over the situation online.
The now-viral TikTok, captioned, "Men are so emotional #fyp #passthebic #comedancewithme #fypシ #men," has been viewed 1.3 million times and liked 177,700 times since it was shared on April 14.
According to Statista, a 2017 survey found that 48 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds were single, whereas 22 percent of 30- to 49-year-olds were single. In addition, 25 percent of people 50 and older were single as well.
In addition, a YouGov survey found that women were more likely than men to reject someone based on their "type." Around 62 percent of women revealed they rejected someone romantically because they weren't their "type," whereas 54 percent of men did the same.
TikToker @yurrxd, or Mia, shared the post, which has garnered over 2,700 comments. The eight-second video, accompanied by the song Piano Man by Billy Joel, featured the TikToker facing the camera as she highlighted a text message conversation in the background behind her.
She gave a thumbs-up as she smiled, showing her text message to a man, presumably someone she had been dating.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to lead you on or anything," the message began. "I'm just not [really] interested in you. You're a great dude, and it's not your fault, I just haven't felt the 'spark.' I [really] do wish you the best." She concluded the message with a smiley face as well.
However, the man's response wasn't so pleasant. The TikToker held a hand to her mouth as half her head was visible in front of the screen, giving enough room to see the man's reply.
"Lmao, OK?" he began. "You're ugly anyways. Kinda fat too. Humble yourself bro, I'm talking to b**ches 10x prettier than you."
The woman put a hand to her head and then back to her mouth before the video cut off.

Numerous comments poured in over the viral situation, and a heated debate ensued over how the man chose to respond. "A simple 'OK, that's fine' would have been great," a TikToker suggested.
Others weighed in on how they'd respond to such a text. "I would've responded with 'Jesus, no need to get emotional,' and never responded to him again," a viewer revealed.
Some thought the man got emotional over the rejection. "Someone's feelings got hurt," a TikToker expressed, "What is he so angry [about]?"
One viewer tried to read between the lines. "What I got from that text was, 'I'm pathetic and cannot handle a beautiful woman,'" they said.
Another TikToker thought the creator's "intuition was correct," adding, "There's a reason you didn't feel a spark, [because] there was a big red flag blocking the connection."
Some viewers revealed they are all for ghosting people, which involves ending communication with a person without explanation while participating in online dating.
"That's why ghosting is the best solution, IMO," a TikToker said. "However, most of them just don't understand it."
Other viewers had comments like, "Dodged a bullet there," "This is why I have zero interest in dating," and "They get so mad, I can't."

This isn't the only viral moment involving rejection. A man called a woman a "fat b**ch" after she rejected him. A woman was bashed after she rejected a man for being too tall. In addition, a man was rejected by a woman for being too short.
