A plane crashed near a car dealership in Ohio on Tuesday morning, leaving the plane's pilot and a passenger dead.

The city of Marietta also confirmed the plane crash in a Facebook post, saying, "State Route 7 is closed in both directions from Summers Pontiac to Reno due to an aircraft crash. Please choose an alternate route!"
In a statement sent to Newsweek, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Marietta Division said, "The pilot and a second occupant sustained fatal injuries."
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 7:15 a.m. local time at the Pioneer Buick GMC dealership parking lot located at 1000 Pike Street.

"The preliminary investigation shows the plane was a 1974 Beechcraft King Air E90," the statement said. "There are no reported injuries to individuals who were on the ground. There is reported damage to multiple vehicles and buildings at the dealership. The crash remains under investigation at this time."
Shortly after it was reported that a plane had crash in the area, several photos and video of the aftermath were posted on social media.

The BuckeyeHills twitter account, a government organization in Ohio, said that its office will be closed on Tuesday morning due to the plane crash.
"Our staff are working remotely and available by phone and email. Our thoughts and prayers are with those involved, their families, and first responders," BuckeyeHills said.
Earlier this year, a plane crash in Colorado resulted in two deaths, according to local authorities.
"As a result of today's plane crash in Anthem Ranch, there were two fatalities. Sadly there were no survivors. No bystanders were injured and no homes were damaged," the North Metro Fire Department in Broomfield, Colorado, said in a tweet in May 2022.
