Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has been criticized for remarks she made at a GOP event saying the January 6 insurrection "would've been armed" if she organized it.
Greene was speaking as part of her headline appearance at the New York Young Republican Club's 110th Annual Gala on Saturday night.
While dismissing the allegations that she was involved in plotting the riot at the Capitol, along with top Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon, Greene said that there would have been weapons at any right-wing coup in the U.S.

"Then Jan. 6 happened. And, next thing you know, I organized the whole thing, along with Steve Bannon," Greene said.
"And I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would've been armed.
"See that's the whole joke, isn't it? They say that whole thing was planned, and I'm like, are you kidding me? A bunch of conservatives, Second-Amendment supporters, went in the Capitol without guns, and they think that we organized that?" she added.
Despite Greene's remarks, a number of people were arrested for having guns at the January 6, 2021, protests in Washington D.C.
The House Select committee investigating the insurrection also revealed Trump was told that some members of the crowd were armed during his speech at the Ellipse in Washington D.C that day, but the former president still told them to march on the Capitol building.
Stewart Rhodes, founder of the far-right Oath Keepers militia group, and Kelly Meggs, who led its Florida chapter, were also found guilty of seditious conspiracy after plotting to keep Trump in power through violence.
A number of social-media users have now condemned Greene for her remarks relating to bringing guns to the January 6 insurrection.
Former MSNBC anchor and ESPN host Keith Olbermann tweeted: "Indict and arrest @RepMTG ( Marjorie Taylor Greene) now.
"This is another threat to overthrow the government of the United States. Lock this creature away. Permanently."

Political activist and author Tim Wise wrote: "Margarine Traitor Greed, saying the quiet (and illegal and seditious part) out loud. Lock her up..."
The Occupy Democrats Twitter account posted: "She's not even hiding her treasonous desires anymore," adding: "Her call for armed insurrection is grounds for arrest in our view."
Left-wing activist and podcast host Dash Dobrofsky added: "Marjorie Taylor Greene said she would have 'won' on Jan 6 if she had 'planned it.' She also said it 'would have been armed.' Greene gave Capitol tours prior to the attack and sought a pardon for her role in the attack. DOJ (the Department of Justice) has an obligation to indict her."
Greene, along with fellow MAGA GOP lawmakers Lauren Boebert and Madison Cawthorn, denied allegations they gave "reconnaissance tours" of the Capitol in the days prior to the riot for those who would later be arrested in connection with the insurrection.
Campaign groups have tried to have Greene disqualified for running for office over allegations she violated the constitution by inciting the January 6 attack.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states that a person who "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" after taking a congressional oath should be prevented from running for office again.
However, in May a judge in Georgia rejected the effort while citing "insufficient" evidence to suggest Greene supported an insurrection.
Other GOP figures who were in attendance at the New York Young Republican Club's 110th Annual Gala include Donald Trump Jr., former New York City mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and far-right conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec.
