Marjorie Taylor Greene asked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to not run for president in 2024, adding that Republicans need former President Donald Trump "back in the White House."
The Georgia representative made the remarks on Monday evening at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, for the former president's last campaign stop prior to the midterm election. The rally, which was also attended by several Trump-endorsed candidates from across the state, aimed to support Senate nominee J.D. Vance in his tight race against Democratic challenger Tim Ryan.
Prior to addressing the crowd, Greene spoke with Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) about Trump's anticipated 2024 presidential bid and the likelihood of fellow Republicans challenging his reelection campaign.

"What we need in this country is we need strong Republican governors like Ron DeSantis," Greene told RSBN host Brian Glenn. "We need strong Republican governors to fight, stay in for eight years and save their states. Not to abandon their states and try to run for president or any other big position."
The interview was later posted on Rumble.
DeSantis has been repeatedly considered for the 2024 presidential election, with some polls pointing to him being a more favorable GOP candidate than Trump. The Florida governor is currently running for reelection against Democratic nominee Charlie Crist, where he leads his opponent by 11.7 points, reports FiveThirtyEight.
Crist has tried to capitalize on DeSantis' anticipated presidential run, and even asked the governor directly during the last gubernatorial debate if he would pledge to serve a full term if reelected. DeSantis dodged Crist's question, but has yet to announce his 2024 bid.
Greene said during the RSBN interview that Trump was the "clear and obvious" choice for 2024, and urged Republicans to not run against him. Greene has reportedly been considered as a possible running mate for Trump's reelection.
"My message is for everyone, anyone that's considering running for president in 2024 against President Trump, please support President Trump because we need him back in the White House," Greene said.
Greene was the first guest speaker of Monday night's rally, and told supporters to "turn our ship around" during this week's election, according to a video posted on Twitter by ABC News political reporter Paulina Tam.
"We need leaders in Washington that aren't interested in drinking, dining and dancing on the upper decks of the ship while there's problems and we're sinking below," Greene told the crowd. "We need leaders in Washington that are focused on our country."
First guest speaker is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
