A new op-ed written by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene lists a handful of Republicans she says are lying in regard to GOP opposition to Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy becoming House speaker, but she leaves one particular member off that list: Lauren Boebert.
Greene and Boebert have recently been in a war of words for multiple reasons.
Greene has endorsed McCarthy to take the gavel once Congress reconvenes in early January, while Boebert has stated she doesn't believe in McCarthy's ability to lead the caucus—going as far as to say that she wouldn't vote for him unless a mechanism to remove him is restored.
Boebert told the Daily Caller on Monday that Greene was "blindly following Kevin McCarthy" and also took comedic jabs at some of Greene's controversial statements, such as those about "Jewish space lasers."
Lying to the base is a red line for me, and that’s what five of my closest colleagues are doing when they claim a consensus candidate will emerge…

If they are successful, they will give us something far worse than Paul Ryan.

Greene wrote her Daily Caller op-ed on Wednesday, accusing Representatives Matt Gaetz, Bob Good, Andy Biggs, Ralph Norman and Matt Rosendale—whom she referred to as the "Never Kevin Five"—of "lying to the base."
Boebert's name was not among those mentioned, even though she has expressed repeated hesitance about supporting McCarthy in the role currently held by Nancy Pelosi.
When asked why Boebert was not mentioned specifically, Greene spokesperson Nick Dyer told Newsweek that "it's about the five members who are out against McCarthy, not people floating in the wind."
Greene took umbrage with each of the five, calling it "ironic" that one of her "favorite members," Gaetz, has compared a McCarthy speakership to that of former Speaker Paul Ryan—due to how Gaetz's first-ever vote in Congress was in support of Ryan.

Gaetz has recently said that Greene would be a "terrific speaker" while adding in the same breath that "Kevin McCarthy is the embodiment of the worst features of the Congress."
"We had full GOP control and President Trump, with pen in hand, ready to sign America First legislation," Greene wrote. "This Republican failure is why I ran for Congress."
"All that said, Matt Gaetz is one of my favorite members of Congress," she added. "America needs his talent and intelligence to work alongside Jim Jordan on investigations for the Judiciary Committee, not blow things up before we begin."
Greene called the others in opposition "strong conservatives and men I respect" while adding that McCarthy "has been preparing for months and has everything in place to not only be Speaker, but to manage the Capitol."
When asked for comment about Greene's op-ed, Gaetz spokesperson Joel Valdez referred Newsweek to the Florida congressman's own op-ed, also published Wednesday by the Daily Caller.
Gaetz's op-ed does not hold back against McCarthy, claiming that McCarthy's donors support vaccine mandates and that McCarthy has "no ideology." He also says the California representative "bought into the Russia hoax" in 2016.
Greene and other McCarthy supporters are never mentioned by name, but as a collective.
"The McCarthy camp is spinning that Kevin must be accepted because 'we have to avoid chaos,'" Gaetz wrote. "Chaos for who exactly? The special interests that are counting on McCarthy as their lapdog?"
He also issued a tweet linking to his op-ed, mentioning Greene by name.
"I remain a huge supporter and admirer of @mtgreenee," he wrote. "She's a true fighter in a town where courage is in rare supply. Kevin doesn't deserve her."
Boebert's most recent comment related to the matter was part of a December 20 tweet regarding the omnibus bill, which she has repeatedly slammed and said she would not vote for due to the earmarks and price tag.
Killing the $1.7 TRILLION DOLLAR Omnibus bill should be the top priority for all conservatives right now.

Engaging in senseless fights doesn’t get us any closer to doing that.
Newsweek reached out to Boebert's office for comment.
