Democrats cite Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's past comments as reason to kick her out of Congress but the congresswoman believes it's really because of her efforts to bring members to the floor for a roll call vote.
A month after Greene was stripped of her committee assignments, Representative Jimmy Gomez introduced a resolution with 72 co-sponsors to expel the freshman congresswoman from Congress. It's unlikely to succeed, as it would need support from 71 Republicans to pass, but it could force members of the GOP to go on the record about their support for Greene.
That same on-the-record vote that Republicans could have to cast is why Greene says she's Democrats' "number one target." During her short stint in office, Greene's repeatedly forced roll call votes on Democrat-led bills, which produces a documentation of how legislators voted.
"I'm the greatest threat standing in their way," Greene told Steve Bannon on his War Room Pandemic podcast on Friday morning. "I'm threatening everything they're trying to do so they're trying to have me expelled."
Newsweek reached out to Representative Jimmy Gomez for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Greene faced heavy criticism for comments she made on Facebook and posts she endorsed by liking or sharing that expressed support for violence against Democrats. She was also criticized for promoting conspiracy theories about mass shootings.
The freshman congresswoman apologized to her GOP colleagues and denounced the past comments, and she maintains support from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who told Democrats they'd "regret" stripping her of her committee assignments. The apology did little to placate those who see her past beliefs as inexcusable and on Friday, Democrats kicked off the process to oust her from Washington, D.C.
"I take no joy in introducing this resolution, but any member who incites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled. And I'll do everything in my power to protect our democracy and keep all my colleagues safe," Gomez said in a Friday floor speech.
Greene said the effort to expel her from Congress should "infuriate" people and criticized Democrats for not taking action against Vice President Kamala Harris and Representative Ilhan Omar for sharing a weblink Minnesota Freedom Fund, which provided bail funds for people protesting George Floyd's death. She also criticized Representative Maxine Waters for past comments she made and Representative Eric Swalwell for his connections to a suspected Chinese spy.
The freshman congresswoman criticized Democrats for not moving to oust Omar and Waters from their committees and for not supporting Republicans' efforts to remove Swalwell.
"I am under attack. I am the number one target Democrats want to take out," Greene said. "They are the hypocrites, they are the enemy."
