GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is blaming the mainstream media for being too "obsessed with war in foreign countries" and promises more purported evidence in President Joe Biden's impeachment inquiry.
Greene's criticism comes as Israel continues its airstrikes on Gaza amid expectations of a ground offensive in the wake of the October 7 attack by the militant wing of Hamas that killed over 1,400 people in the country, according to the Associated Press. During the two-week-old war, Israel has received strong support from Biden, most recently during his recent trip to the Middle East.
The war in Ukraine is continuing nearly 18 months after Russia invaded the nation in February 2022. Greene has consistently been one of the more outspoken members of Congress who oppose further U.S. aid for Ukraine. The U.S. has provided the Ukrainians with more funding for weapons and defense resources than any other nation.

"News you hardly know bc the mainstream news is obsessed with war in foreign countries: Oversight Committee released a $200,000 check written to Joe Biden from his brother James Biden from Americore - money laundering," Greene wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. "And we have more coming in the impeachment inquiry."
Newsweek reached out to Greene via email for comment.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has led the investigation into the Biden family since the GOP took majority control of the chamber in January.
The committee has alleged that the president received "shady" loans totaling $600,000 from a failing hospital company based on claims that his family name would "open doors" and could help secure a "large investment from the Middle East."
Ian Sams, the White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, said the loan check in question was made out to Joe Biden and was clearly labeled as a "loan repayment" conducted before he was elected president.
"As even some House Republicans themselves have said, this is 'failure theater' that is intended to be a 'shiny object' to distract people from how they are incapable of doing the basics of governing," Sams told Newsweek on Monday. "It's no coincidence they rushed out a new distraction mere minutes after yet another failed [House] speaker vote."

He continued: "Instead of getting their act together and doing the work of the American people, they are pushing out more false smears against President Biden despite their own evidence yet again debunking their false claims. After rummaging through thousands of pages of a private citizen's bank records, they have again turned up zero evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden—and that's because there is none."
Sams added that "this entire exercise has become a self-debunking wild goose chase that's only turning up evidence that President Biden did nothing wrong."
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, a witness who testified in the impeachment hearings against Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, said in September when the Biden inquiry was opened that he does not believe "the evidence currently meets the standard of a high crime and misdemeanor needed for an article of impeachment."
