Chris Explains Himself to Dr. Viviana Coles in 'Married at First Sight' Season 12 Sneak Peek

Every season of Married at First Sight is full of twists and turns, but no couple has taken viewers on a rollercoaster quite like Season 12 couple Chris and Paige.

It seemed as though Chris and Paige were doomed from the moment they first met at the altar. After Chris revealed not only that he and his ex-fiancée split up shortly before he joined the show, but that they were also expecting their first child together, fans were ready for Paige to walk out on the marriage. And to make matters worse, Chris also said—after he and Paige were married—that he wanted to work things out with his ex, Mercedes. That all came to a head, though, when Chris, Paige and Mercedes met in person and both of the women said that they wanted nothing to do with Chris going forward.

However, Paige and Chris had a change of heart regarding their relationship during last week's episode of the Lifetime reality show. And when MAFS airs this week, viewers will get to see them making good on their vows to give their marriage another shot.

They start by inviting Dr. Viviana Coles over to meet with them, as seen in a Newsweek-exclusive sneak peek of episode 10, which set to air on Wednesday. (You can watch the clip at the top of this post.)

"So, because so much has happened—and of course we're privy to a lot of it, all of it—things change from day-to-day. So that's why I'm here, it's to see if there's anywhere where there can be some improvements, some help and some hope," Dr. Viviana says in the preview clip.

The marriage counselor then turns her attention to Chris, who has been the root cause of the majority of the couple's problems. "I feel like I hardly know you because the person that you were when we met—that we got to know when we matched—and the person literally once you got married and since, are so different," Dr. Viviana says.

According to Chris, the man who has caused so much drama and strife in Paige's life since their wedding is not the person he really is, and that's not the person who originally signed up to participate in the show.

"Pre-wedding Chris is Chris since '92, since I was born. After the wedding, filming, married, finding out [Mercedes was] pregnant, it put me in a depressive state, to be perfectly honest with you," Chris explains. "I kind of lost it. I was like, 'I don't know what to do, how to do it, how to make a right decision, what's right, what's wrong.' I just kind of lost it."

Paige looks empathetically at her husband while Dr. Viviana assures Chris that his situation is "a lot for anyone."

The meeting with Dr. Viviana seems like a step in the right direction, but only time will tell if Chris and Paige will manage to pull through and remain married when Decision Day rolls around.

Married at First Sight airs on Lifetime on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
