The contents of a gift box given to a U.K.-based McDonald's employee have divided the internet.

In a viral TikTok post, Ross Barrett, 18, from Scotland, revealed the contents of the McDonald's employee of the month box.

The post obviously struck a chord with many people on the social media platform as it has attracted more than 7.2 million views since it was posted last week.

According to the career website Zippia, there are more than 1.7 million McDonald's workers employed in the U.S.

An estimated 58.5 percent of all its U.S.-based employees are women and the average age of workers is 24, per the website.

In the 31-second clip, a bright yellow box with a graphic of a red bow could be seen alongside a caption that read: "What's inside a McDonald's employee of the month."

Barrett revealed he received a certificate, a light-up key ring, a £10 ($11.76) voucher for numerous U.K. stores, a "push pop" Big Mac as well as a pen.

Speaking to Newsweek, Barrett said his favorite item among the goodies, however, was a hydro flask.

The employee, who has worked at McDonald's for three months, said he was stunned by the reaction online.

Barrett said: "I uploaded [the video] to the platform thinking it would get at most a few thousand views.

"It turns out that what's inside the McDonald's employee of the month (box) was apparently more than just a little noticeable."

But the contents of the gift box received a mixed reception on TikTok.

Users were torn about whether the offerings in the box represented an adequate reward for an employee's hard work.

User Mal said: "Man got £15 work of items for working hard the whole month."

A TikTok account named Ethan added: "Would've rather just got free food."

User Manahill posted: "I honestly don't think it's bad because most companies don't even give an employee of the month gift boxes."

Jinxie expressed surprise that McDonald's employees in the U.K. got rewards at their outlets: "Y'all get employee of the month at your McDonald's?"

Newsweek has contacted McDonald's for comment.

Content about McDonald's has previously gone viral on TikTok with millions of views.

In one video with more than 2 million views, a McDonald's drive-thru worker reenacted a debate she once had with a customer over their strange order.

Megan Grace wrote: "sometimes you have to give them what they want.

"So, I keep coming through McDonald's, and they keep getting this [order] wrong, so I need you to listen to me," the customer purportedly said before placing their order. "I want a cheeseburger but with no cheese."

Grace then had to explain that a hamburger was indeed a cheeseburger with no cheese.
