The winning numbers in Tuesday (last) night's Mega Millions drawing were 8, 12, 33, 56, and 64, and the Mega Ball was 2. The jackpot was an estimated $65 million with a cash-value option of $48.6 million, but did anyone win?

Mega Millions Winners

Nobody matched five numbers and the Mega Ball to win the grand prize, so the jackpot on Friday night's draw is an estimated $70 million with a cash value option of $52.4 million.

Nobody matched five numbers either, so nobody won the $1 million prize. However, four people matched four balls and the Mega Ball and won $10,000 each and one of these players used the Megaplier to double their prize to $20,000.

More than 200 players won $500 each by matching four balls and 50 of these players doubled their prizes to $1,000 by using the Megaplier. More than 600 players won $200 by three numbers and the Mega Ball, and more than 100 of these players used the Megaplier to double their prize to $400.

Additionally, hundreds of thousands of players won smaller prizes ranging from $4 to $20, by matching various combinations of numbers from just the Mega Ball to three numbers using the Megaplier. Nearly 400,000 players won these smaller prizes and more than 74,000 of these players used the Megaplier to double their prize amount.

How to Play Mega Millions

The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Friday, March 6 at 11 p.m. EST. To participate, players must purchase a ticket for $2 per play with the option of adding the Megaplier for an additional $1 per play. Participants must purchase the tickets from a licensed lottery retailer, and ticket sales generally close between an hour or two before the draw, though deadlines vary by jurisdiction.

Players must choose five numbers between one and 70 for the white balls and one number between one and 25 for the golden Mega Ball. They can choose the numbers or have the lottery terminal select them at random.

The jackpot starts at $40 million and grows by a minimum of $5 million per draw each time the jackpot is not won and rolls over. The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won was $1.537 billion, which was won on October 23, 2018, by a ticket sold in South Carolina.

However, this jackpot was only the second-highest won in the national lotteries, behind the $1.586 billion jackpot won in the Powerball lottery on January 13, 2016, which was won by multiple tickets.

Only one Mega Millions jackpot has been won so far this year. On February 11, 2020, a player who purchased their ticket in New Jersey won a $202 million jackpot, which had a cash option of $142.6 million.
