Megan Thee Stallion's 'Thot S***' Contains This Horror Movie Reference

Megan Thee Stallion has returned from her musical hiatus with a bang, with the release of a racy music video to accompany her new single "Thot S***."

And while the rapper impresses with her signature mix of high-velocity word play and gravity-defying twerking skills, she has also thrown in a treat for horror fans.

Soon after the video was released in the early hours of Friday morning, fans took to Twitter to point out her reference to A Nightmare on Elm Street.

At the start of the clip, a curmudgeonly congressman is seen posting a vitriolic comment on YouTube under the video for her 2020 single "Body."

The politician is then terrorized in countless ways by Megan, from being hit by a truck to having coffee poured over his head, as he lives to regret his comments.

And as he attempts to enjoy a peaceful bath, Megan's hand—sporting long manicured nails—is seen rising from the water as she gestures at him.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the scene is reminiscent of A Nightmare on Elm Street, where serial killer Freddy Krueger's metal-clawed leather glove rises from the water as one of his young victims dozes off in the bath.

Sharing screenshots from the new music video and the classic horror franchise side-by-side on Twitter, @theprincecherub wrote: "megan is so genius!"

"I really loved the Nightmare on Elm Street reference on Megan's Thot S*** music video," stated @Wirjil on the micro-blogging platform.

"The nightmare on elm street reference in Megan's new music video I love her...," said @OhAidan.

On Thursday, the rapper—real name Megan Pete—took to Twitter to explain the inspiration behind her latest track, following an enquiry from a fan.

She wrote: "I'm really just talking s*** and taking ownership of the words 'thot' and 'hoe' bc they're not the drag the men think it is when trying to come at women for doing them."

Megan's new single comes after she announced on social media in April that she was taking a hiatus, in order to "recharge."

In November 2020, the star released her debut album "Good News," on which she took lyrical aim at Canadian rapper Tory Lanez in the single "Shots Fired."

Lanez—real name Daystar Peterson—was arrested on felony assault charges in October 2020, after Megan suffered a gunshot wound in the foot months earlier in July, allegedly at the hands of Lanez.

Musician Lanez, who has pleaded not guilty to felony assault charges—including counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle—is facing a maximum sentence of 22 years if convicted.
