Since Hamas' unprecedented attack on Israel last month, many stars have been sharing their thoughts on the conflict—leading to some famous faces getting "canceled."

Two big names to spark uproar with their remarks are former adult film star Mia Khalifa and comedian Amy Schumer, with Khalifa sharing social media posts slamming the Trainwreck star.

On October 7, Hamas led a militant attack on Israel, with Israel subsequently launching airstrikes on Gaza, and later commencing ground operations. As of November 2, at least 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, according to the Associated Press citing the Israeli military, while 8,800 people had been killed in Gaza, authorities there said.

Schumer, who was raised Jewish, is a vocal supporter of Israel. Conversely, Lebanese-American Khalifa is a staunch supporter of Palestinians, although it's her alleged praise of Hamas that has led to cancelation calls, rather than her support for Gaza civilians.

Khalifa lost her podcasting contract with Playboy after calling Hamas "freedom fighters" on social media, while Schumer accused several news outlets of blaming Israel for the Gaza hospital bombing on October 17 without fact-checking. Although later reports indicated that the missile was indeed fired from within Gaza towards Israel, Schumer's comments led to widespread backlash on social media.

Newsweek has reached out to Amy Schumer and Mia Khalifa for comment via email.

On November 1, Khalifa shared a post to X, formerly Twitter. Originally posted by Black and Indigenous Filipino actress Asia Jackson, the images are screenshots of an Instagram message exchange between her and Schumer.

Schumer appears to have first messaged Jackson after the 29-year-old posted: "It's so crazy to me how Bella & Gigi had to tiptoe around their statements and then Amy Schumer is like 'Gazans are rapists' and will still have a career."

As the daughters of American Palestinian real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid, the Hadid sisters have long been outspoken supporters of Palestinians.

In response to Jackson's comment, Schumer said: "Did something I post about my people being massacred upset you?" To which Jackson replied: "The Islamophobia and generalization of Gazan people did."

"People all over the world are in the streets yelling for the murder of my people," Schumer continued.

"You are not educated about the history of the Jewish people and of the conflict. Thanks for expressing what you were upset about. I'd like to express that I think you are antisemitic."

The 42-year-old asked Jackson if she had any Jewish friends, telling her "they are frightened for their children and for their lives" and accused her of posting the screenshots on X to boost her career.

In response, Jackson said: "Very curious to hear how you know that I'm not educated about the conflict? How do you know that? You literally just followed me, you don't know who I am."

X users blasted Schumer for her remarks to Jackson, with Meech writing: "Amy Schumer saying this to a BLACK AND INDIGENOUS FILIPINA????? She's so vile and nasty and drowning in propaganda."

"Amy schumer looks like the type of bully who called brown people towelhe*ds in school while high-fiving her friends and wearing parasuco jeans that are too small," said samah fadil in a post that has been viewed more than 55,000 times.

After the message exchange went viral, Khalifa silently weighed in by reposting the comments by Meech and samah fadil, along with sharing posts by public figures in support of Palestinians, such as Angelina Jolie and author Dan Kovalik.

The 30-year-old also reposted direct comments from Asia Jackson, including, "Imagine coming into a Black person's DMs trying to lecture them about what it's like to feel unsafe," and "[Schumer is] sending all these messages from her mansion while the IDF just bombed a refugee camp."

Since losing her deal with Playboy, Khalifa has refrained from posting her own thoughts on social media, but has been liking and resharing posts from other users in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

On November 1, Schumer took to Instagram to respond to the backlash against her. In her post, the mom-of-one said she wants "safety for Jewish people and Muslims" and slammed people accusing her of being Islamophobic.

"Saying that I'm Islamophobic or like genocide is crazy," Schumer wrote, before hitting out at commentors insulting her appearance and career.

"People calling me a failed comic. I'm the most successful female comedian of all time," she continued.

"I'm ugly/fat okay sorry you're not attracted to me. I found someone who is.

"We are all in a lot of pain. What hurts the most is that we all actually love each other. You hate Jews. You don't know why. I still love you."
