A Michigan man was arrested last week after providing state police officers with a fake name, which had active warrants out for his arrest.
According to a press release issued by the Michigan State Police's Seventh District, the incident occurred on Friday, March 26, at about 6:30 a.m. local time in the city of Cadillac.
While state troopers were driving on the M-55 highway in Clam Lake Township, they noticed a vehicle parked on the shoulder with its lights off. Troopers noticed a female in the driver's seat and a male in the passenger seat.
"When troopers activated their emergency lights the male subject ducked down in the passenger seat," the press release said.
Police did not provide the names of the two people in the car but identified them as a 29-year-old woman from Cadillac and a 30-year-old man from Lawton.
After noticing the man ducking under the passenger seat, troopers walked to the vehicle to speak with the two. According to the release, when a trooper spoke with the man, he provided a fake name.
Police did not provide the fake name that the man used. Upon discovering the arrest warrants connected with the fake name, troopers placed the man under arrest.
Upon conducting a subsequent search of the vehicle and the man, troopers found drug paraphernalia.
"During his arrest, troopers found approximately 27 grams of methamphetamine inside his pant leg," the release said. "Troopers also found a scale, small baggies, and cash on the man."
The man was brought to Wexford County Jail in Cadillac.

According to the release, the man's real identity was discovered after they took his fingerprints.
The release also said that during the man's processing, authorities discovered that he had smuggled more drugs into the jail.
"Charges are being requested for possession [of] methamphetamine with intent to distribute, smuggling drugs into the jail, lying to a peace officer during a felony, and littering after troopers found numerous pop cans and lottery tickets that were thrown on the ground that were able to be connected back to the vehicle," the release said.
The release also said that after the arrest, troopers towed the vehicle the man was in to the Michigan State Police's Cadillac Post, "pending a search warrant for the vehicle and further investigation."
Newsweek was directed to the press release after reaching out to the Michigan State Police for comment. In the press release posted to Twitter, authorities also included two pictures of the drug paraphernalia found in the man's possession.
