MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is facing criticism from conservatives after he claimed this week that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis benefited from voter fraud during the November midterms.

Lindell, who has promoted the disproven theory that the 2020 presidential election was rigged against former President Donald Trump, made the claim about DeSantis on his media platform Lindell TV, which often features guests who advance conspiracy theories.

Implying fraud had taken place in Florida, the CEO questioned the legitimacy of the Republican governor's victory in the historically Democratic-leaning Miami-Dade County. However, Lindell did not offer any evidence to support his theory.

"I don't believe it," Lindell said. "So, I'm just going to show everybody, just like we always tell you about Democrats where they stole their elections...I'm going to find out in Dade County what happened there."

Lindell has enjoyed popularity in the MAGA (Make American Great Again) world of Trump backers, but his comments about DeSantis have sparked a backlash from the community. Among those who have condemned Lindell's comments is former Newsmax host and prominent Trump supporter John Cardillo.

"Lindell needs to go away," Cardillo tweeted. "DeSantis did well in FL because he did an amazing job for FL."

Attorney Marina Medvin, who has represented several defendants accused of participating in the U.S. Capitol riots, wrote in the comments of a Lindell clip on Twitter: "Lol. So much lol. In many ways too. Just lol."

The Daily Wire's Ryan Saavedra, who posted the video of Lindell expressing his skepticism of Florida's election, responded to Medvin.

"Absolute clown show, for sure," Saavedra wrote.

Joe Cunningham, a senior editor at the conservative blog RedState, poked fun at Lindell. In a tone that imitated a commercial, Cunningam tweeted, "I mean, DeSantis' victory margins are just as insane as THIS AMAZING NEW DEAL ON MYPILLOW IF YOU GO TO MYPILLOW DOT COM AND..."

Conservative radio host Nick Reed discussed Lindell's claims on his Friday program. Reed speculated that Lindell made the comments because he's a "Trump guy" who sees DeSantis as a potential threat to Trump for the 2024 Republican nomination for president.

Reed implied Lindell is trying to paint DeSantis in a bad light because "he's out there kind of workin' it a bit" for Trump. The host went on to call Trump "the most effective and successful president" that many Americans have lived to see while saying the way Trump was elected in 2016 was by winning areas that had traditionally voted for Democratic candidates.

"You probably shouldn't point to another Republican as having suspicious election outcomes when he [Trump] does the same thing," Reed said. "Not to mention this is, to a large degree, the pathway to victory for Republicans."

Newsweek reached out to Lindell and DeSantis for comment.
