Anyone with pets knows eating is a hard task, with sorrowful eyes begging for scraps, or paws desperately trying to swipe a morsel.

But a photo of two cats angrily staring at a man's dinner has been met with hilarity online, with the stony-faced felines compared to the "mob."

Redditor, xxxSly96xxx, shared two snaps of the audience her husband had to contend with as he sat down for a bite.

The photos are captioned "The view from my husband's dinner plate" and have amassed more than 32,000 upvotes since being posted on Monday.

Two cats, one black and the other black and white, are staring intently at the food, with what can only be described as a look of sheer displeasure on their faces.

The second photo shows the monochrome moggy appearing to snarl at its owner, with a single fang exposed in a menacing expression.

Their intense looks prompted numerous people to question the safety of the man, while others compared the cats to gangsters.

Brokenheartedbutok thought: "Idk why but this makes me think of one of those old time mob boss pics lol. Either way so cute!"

Anjerz gushed: "Oh my God that little fang!!...They're so imposing and expressive."

In other food news, a fellow pet owner also took to Reddit to share the unusual dish they enjoyed after cooking an egg their parrot laid.

Redditor, Asatoaf, shared a snap of their green bird, along with the miniature egg in a frying pan, ready to eat.

She wrote: "My parrot laid an egg, it's unfertilized so I ate it."

Responding to comments over the taste, the owner added: "Texture: A little bit softer than a hard-boiled egg. Taste: just like a hard-boiled egg, not bad."

The snap, posted to the site's Mildly Interesting forum on Thursday, amassed more than 46,000 upvotes as the dish divided opinion.
