'My Hero Academia': New League of Villains Arc Announced for Season 5 of Anime

My Hero Academia is set to get taken over by the League of Villains in a new arc for its fifth season.

The anime will adapt the "My Villain Academia" arc from Kohei Horikoshi's manga, which puts the spotlight on the story's bad guys in the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army.

So far, season 5 has seen the students of U.A. High School's Class 1-A and Class 1-B go through numerous trials in Pro Hero training as part of the "Joint Training" arc.

It also featured the "Endeavor Agency" arc, which focused on Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki as they worked with Endeavor, who is currently the #1 hero.

But now the series will give the villains their chance to shine. This new arc airs on Funimation from August 21, the VOD service said in a press release.

My Hero Academia's official Twitter account teased the forthcoming anime arc on social media, with Funimation revealing they wrote: "The villains' story is fast approaching. Let's break it all, just once."

What will My Hero Academia's new "My Villain Academia" arc be about?

The arc follows the League of Villains, an alliance of villains determined to destroy hero society, who are broke and struggling to make ends meet.

Before they are able to get back into shape, the League come face-to-face with their villainous rivals in the Meta Liberation Army (M.L.A), who want to defeat them and anyone who wishes to regulate Quirks.

The M.L.A are led by Re-Destro, and the season will see them go up against characters like Himiko Toga and Tomura Shigaraki in the League of Villains.

As well as being teased by Funimation as an "edge-of-your-seat thrill ride," the action-packed arc will also give fans a deeper look into characters like Shigaraki.

My Hero Academia is set in a world where 80 percent of the human population have developed superpowers known as Quirks. Those who work with the authorities become Heroes and those who abuse their powers become Villains.

The League of Villains is comprised of a number of members, namely Toga, Shigaraki, Dabi, and Twice, while the M.L.A includes Re-Destro, Skeptic, and Curious amongst others.

When will My Hero Academia's new "My Villain Academia" be released?

Funimation announced that the new episodes of My Hero Academia will be available on the streaming platform from August 21 and it will air weekly thereafter.

The anime will be simulcast in Japanese with English subtitles, and an English dubbed version of the episodes will be available just a few weeks after as part of the streaming platform's Simuldub services for subscribers.
