Naomi Biden Teases White House Wedding as Event Shrouded in Secrecy

President Joe Biden's granddaughter, Naomi Biden, has offered a rare glimpse behind the scenes of her White House wedding ahead of the nuptials.

Biden, the daughter of Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, is set to tie the knot with fiancé Peter Neal on the White House's South Lawn on Saturday in an event that has been shrouded in secrecy.

While details have largely been kept from the curious eyes of the public, the bride-to-be shared a small glimpse of the swiftly approaching celebratory event in a post shared on her Instagram account on Thursday.

With The Dixie Cups' enduring 1960s classic "Chapel Of Love" serving as the soundtrack, Naomi Biden, 28, posted a seconds-long video of a sizable wreath of white roses affixed to a set of gates at the presidential residence.

Naomi Biden, who is President Biden's eldest grandchild, opted to forgo any description or caption for the post, letting the imagery speak for itself.

Meanwhile, her husband-to-be Neal, 25, on Thursday shared a glimpse of himself and his partner holding hands while standing before a chiffon-wrapped arch.

Captioning the image, which was geotagged as having been taken at the Marriage Bureau in Washington, D.C., Neal wrote: "Gotta nail the money shot to secure the license to wed," adding that the snapshot was taken with the aid of a self-timer.

The couple embarked on a romantic relationship after they were set up on a date by a mutual friend in New York City back in 2018, per the White House.

Neal, an associate at Georgetown Law's Center on National Security, proposed on September 4, 2021, with an emerald-cut diamond in a setting that incorporated the band of his grandmother's engagement ring, according to The New York Times.

The president's granddaughter, an associate at the law firm Arnold & Porter, revealed the wedding ceremony's location on Twitter in July, writing that she was "not sure how best to update."

She added that she and Neal had "finally figured out where the ceremony will be... and much to the relief of secret service and with the dogs' endorsement... we'll be getting married on the South Lawn! Couldn't be more excited."

According to The Times, the lovebirds currently live at the White House.

Few other details are known regarding the nuptials, though the Times reported that esteemed planner Bryan Rafanelli, who oversaw Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010, will be at the helm of the event.

It has also been reported that first lady Jill Biden's communications director, Elizabeth Alexander, and her close advisor Anthony Bernal have been entrusted with keeping tabs on the plans and shielding the bride-to-be from the media.

During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jill Biden expressed her excitement at seeing her granddaughter "planning her wedding, making her choices, becoming, you know, just coming into her own, and she's just so beautiful."

"So I can't wait till all of you see her as a bride," the first lady added.

In June, Naomi Biden posted a photo on Instagram from the White House that documented a wedding planning session, though the image was later deleted.

Amid high inflation and gas prices, grand displays of opulence by the president could well prompt criticism from Biden's detractors. The White House has stated that the Biden family will foot the bill for all costs related to the wedding.

"Consistent with other private events hosted by the first family and following the traditions of previous White House wedding festivities in prior administrations, the Biden family will be paying for the wedding activities that occur at the White House," Alexander stated in an email, per the Times.
