Natasha Lyonne Solves Grisly Crimes in 'Knives Out' Creator's New Series

After the success of Russian Doll, Natasha Lyonne's next TV show sees her collaborate with Knives Out creator Rian Johnson.

The new 10-part series coming to Peacock will feature big-name guest stars every week, as Lyonne's character Charlie Cale uses her uncanny ability to spot a lie and solve mysteries.

"Never underestimate the power of a good dinner conversation between friends," Johnson and Lyonne said in the press release sent to Newsweek for Poker Face.

"What started as a discussion over steak frites about detective shows and what made them such a reliable pleasure—the exploration of little worlds within each new setting, the guest stars playing killers and victims, and most importantly, a scrappy protagonist you were always ready to kick back with and see win—ultimately resulted in the creation of Charlie, the driving force behind Poker Face."

The show is the first collaboration between Lyonne, 43, and Johnson, 48. She's known for Emmy-nominated performances in Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll, while Johnson made his name as the writer and director of Looper, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi and Knives Out. Poker Face is Johnson's first scripted TV show that he's written.

In a message to fans, they wrote: "We invite you to follow Charlie on a cross-country road trip as she meets a rogue's gallery of characters and avenges a new injustice each episode, armed with little more than her uncanny ability to detect lies and a genuine appreciation for her fellow humans (and the occasional dog).

"Now please leave the overthinking to Rian, who has masterfully crafted ten self-contained puzzles for Charlie to solve. Just jump in the back of her '69 Plymouth Barracuda and enjoy the ride," the message read.

The pair have recruited dozens of guest stars to appear across the series. The trailer shows that Adrien Brody and Lil Rel Howery are joining the fun, but that's not all. Cherry Jones, Chloë Sevigny, Hong Chau, Jameela Jamil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Luis Guzmán, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, Simon Helberg, Tim Blake Nelson and Tim Meadows are just some of the actors set to star.

SNL and Loot star Maya Rudolph is credited as a co-executive producer, alongside Danielle Renfrew Behrens. Other executive producers are Lyonne, Johnson, Ram Bergman, Nora Zuckerman, Lilla Zuckerman, Nena Rodrigue and Iain B. MacDonald.

You won't have long to wait for the new show as it launches on Peacock on January 26, 2023. Four episodes will drop on the first day, with each new installment dropping every Thursday after that.

Each episode in the 10-part series is due to be 60 minutes long.
