Nearly $50,000 has been raised to support a 6-year-old boy who was left with serious injuries after being run over by a bulldozer.

Bodie Boring, from Franklin in Texas, was with his father on a construction site when the accident took place. His injuries include a skull fracture, brain bleed, a blood clot on the brain, bruised lungs and a fractured pelvic bone. He is currently recovering in hospital whilst his family are using GoFundMe to help pay for his care.

Speaking to local news site KBTX 3 his mother, Samantha, said: "He has amazed me so much.

"His spirit has been so positive this whole time. Even in his worse pain, he's just been amazing. This is a miracle, and there's only one explanation as to why he's still here and I truly believe that that's God."

The GoFundMe, currently on just under $49,000, was set up by Bodie's cousin Magen.

Money raised will go towards paying Bodie's medical bills and will support his parents who will need time off work to help with caring.

Magen commented: "He's just also been really amazed to see everybody who cares about him and how many people are praying for him.

"There are people in other states that this story has reached, and they've even said 'we've heard about this and we're praying' and so that's just been phenomenal."

Bodie's mother has been providing updates on his recovery via Facebook, and on Sunday posted a video of him walking again using a walking frame.

Unfortunately, the following day Bodie tested positive for coronavirus, developing a 103-degree fever, though he has since improved significantly.

Samantha's most recent Facebook update, posted on Wednesday, reads: "They just took Bodie off of the IV blood thinner & started him on the Lovenox shots. These shots sting very bad. He cried worse then he has this whole hospital stay & these are the same shots we have to do twice a day for 3-6 months.

"On a positive note, we should be busting out of the ICU sometime today & moving to a regular hospital room!!"

At time of writing the GoFundMe has received 457 separate donations, with the highest individual donation coming from Whitney Fleming, who gave $2,500.

Some contributors left comments expressing their sympathy and hope for Bodie's recovery.

Kelly and Jennifer Smith, who donated $200, wrote: "Prayers for your sweet little boy and your entire family!"

Christine Diestel gave $50, adding, "Hang in there little man! Praying for you!!" while Sarah Araujo, who also sent $50, wrote, "Prayers for Bodie and the family."

In July an 11-year-girl left hospital after more than five months, having been treated for burns over 56 percent of her body.

The child was inside a trailer home with her parents and three siblings when a propane explosion set the vehicle alight. The other siblings and parents were able to escape with mostly minor injuries.
