A "stalker" cat has drawn numerous online comments after a neighbor shared a video of the animal "risking his life" to look at him and the clip went viral on social media.
In the video, shared Tuesday on TikTok under the username Bennynazareth, the cat can be seen hanging from a window and staring at his human neighbor for quite some time. The post comes with a caption that says: "My neighbor is a stalker" and "Creepy neighbor."
There are many reasons why your cat may be staring at you. It may be angry, happy, scared or just looking for attention, and you can tell by paying attention to its body language.
If the cat is staring at you and blinking slowly while it is inches away from your face, this is actually a sign of affection, according to Pet MD. Blinking for cats is a friendly gesture, and when it is combined with loose, relaxed body language, the cat is telling you that it wants to be close and spend time with you.
If your cat is upset, it will exhibit telltale signs, like pupil dilation, ears turned to the side, a stiffer body and an agitated tail that swishes from side to side. These signs, in addition to direct eye contact, are a sign that your cat needs some space.
In this case, the best thing to do is avert your eyes, distract the cat and redirect its attention to another activity to add some space between you and your pet. If the cat is staring at you while it is crouched down with its tail tucked underneath its body, or hiding behind a piece of furniture, your pet is fearful.

Whatever you inadvertently did, or whatever happened, your cat got scared, and by staring at whoever is closest, it is keeping an eye out for danger. To calm the cat while maintaining some distance to not scare it further, get some cat treats and toss them toward it.
The video quickly attracted animal lovers from across the platform, receiving over 1.7 million views and 348,100 likes in less than two days.
