The Chevrolet Trax has undergone a thorough redesign, making it an appealing subcompact SUV with a price point below that of most small cars. The 2024 Chevrolet Tax goes on sale in spring 2023.
"The all-new Trax has everything you need and nothing you don't," said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. "More space. More features. More style. This is an entry-level vehicle that will surprise and delight customers with its value and plays a critical role as the gateway into the Chevy brand."
There's no doubt that the Trax borrows from the General Motors parts bin, but that strategy allows it to have above-class technology and a fresh look inspired by the Chevrolet Blazer. It's lower and wider with more passenger space than the outgoing Trax generation thanks to a longer wheelbase and wider track.
Inside, it's 11 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the first-generation Trax. Rear legroom is up three inches and maximum cargo capacity has been increased by 12 percent.
The measurements have the new Trax being just 5 inches shorter than the current Chevrolet Trailblazer and basically the same width. It is 4 inches shorter than the Trailblazer. Interior dimensions are nearly identical to the Trailblazer.

Chevy will sell the 2024 Trax in five trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ.
Front and center on all models is the Chevy bowtie emblem, with grille lines that flow from that center toward slim headlights.
Each trim level has unique design accents inside and out. The Trax LS wears 17-inch steel wheels while the mid-grade Trax LT has additional bright trim, 17-inch machined aluminum wheels and black seats with Sky Cool Gray accents.
Trax 1RS and 2RS are the sportiest of the lot with additional exterior trim elements, a unique grille and embedded badge. The Trax 1RS wears 18-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels while the Trax 2RS has 19-inchers, seats with red accents and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Trax Activ sports a monochrome exterior look that has titanium chrome accents and a rear skid plate motif. It rides on black 18-inch wheels and has seats covered in Evotex that feature yellow accents.
All Trax models are powered by a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that is rated at 137 horsepower (hp) and 162 pound-feet (lb-ft) of torque. That's the same engine that's in the base model Trailblazer.
Among the equipment and features list for the model is a standard 8-inch infotainment touch screen (11-inch on LT, 2RS and Activ grades), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, 17- to 19-inch wheels, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control and active noise cancellation technology.
The list of standard features also includes four bottle holders and two cupholders.
Heated front seats, steering wheel, outside mirrors and remote start are standard on Trax 1RS, 2RS and Active, and available on Trax LT. Trax LS buyers can add heated seats and outside mirrors to their model.
Moving up to Trax LT, 2RS and Active gets buyers automatic climate control, push-button start and additional USB ports for rear seat passengers to use. A power-adjustable passenger seat is available on Trax Activ.
Chevrolet has added a suite of driver assist and safety technology to the Trax for the new model year. Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, following distance indicator and automatic high beams.
Blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and rear park assist are available.
"The 2024 Trax is a complete revamp from our current model which had been aging rather poorly," Robby DeGraff, industry analyst at AutoPacific told Newsweek, "Budget-concious shoppers no longer need to resort to a petite uninspiring product shy on tech and other must-have amenities, this redesign addresses all of that and appears to do so very well.
"Pricing is importantly approachable, its much bigger than before, and there's a nice list of standard equipment that AutoPacific's data shows is really wanted by today's consumers. Chevy has finally given us a modern entry-level offering."
The 2024 Chevrolet Trax starts at $21,495 for the LS model. The Trax 1RS starts at $23,195 and the Trax LT has a starting MSRP of $23,395. The top two trims, Trax 2RS and Trax Activ are available for $24,995 each. Additional destination and delivery charges are unknown at this time.
