Blistering performance is matched with "an abundance of character" in the new Aston Martin DBX707. The 697-horsepower model is characterized as the most powerful luxury SUV in the world.
It's not just the most powerful. The 2023 DBX7070 is the fastest and best handling, the automaker says, adding that the model features "exceptional precision, dynamic flair and genuine engagement".
Despite having near-Dodge Hellcat power numbers and being more robust than a Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin draws the comparison that the DBX707 is "a saber in a segment of sledgehammers" that has had every area "enhanced to boost performance, driving pleasure and amplify its on-road presence".
"With the DBX707 we have pushed the boundaries in every area to create a car which sets new standards of performance and desirability," said Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Tobias Moers. "The fastest, most powerful, best handling and most engaging car of its kind, it propels Aston Martin to the pinnacle of SUV performance"
The exterior of the model has been fully updated to include a larger grille, gloss black splitter, more heavily sculpted gloss black side sills and soft-close doors. A the back there's a door lip spoiler on the roof wing and a larger diameter, satin black quad exhaust system. The rear bumper has integrated panel vents.
The go comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that can be found under the hood. At its heart, that the same engine that's in the traditional DBX, but Aston Martin has changed a few things to make it more potent. There are new ball bearing turbochargers and the engine has been specially calibrated.

Those adjustments drive up the performance to 697 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. That's a 155 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque boost over the traditional V8-powered DBX.
The DBX707 can move from zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 3.1 seconds, a 1.4-second improvement over the traditional DBX's performance.
Aston Martin has paired the engine with a nine-speed wet clutch automatic transmission. The nature of this transmission gives a driver an increased sense of control and responsiveness allowing for a more spirited drive. This is enhanced further by a retuned electronic power steering system.
Stopping power is provided by a fresh set of carbon ceramic brakes that are gripped by six-piston calipers. This setup reduces the weight of the DBX by nearly 90 pounds. Brake cooling has been enhanced, as has pedal feel and braking response.

The rig rides on standard 22-inch wheels in the buyer's choice of Sport or Ribbon designs. A 23-inch alloy wheel colored black or satin black is available. The larger wheels offer improved steering response.
The five-seat SUV has gotten a new version of its electronic limited slip differential, which has been strengthened to handle the new torque limits of the SUV. Up to 100 percent of the torque can be sent to the rear axle of the DBX707 on demand, an automatic operation.
Ride quality is enhanced by the SUV's retuned standard air suspension. New damper valving and recalibrated spring volume are set to improve body control and response. The goal of less body roll, heave, and pitch have been achieved thanks to these changes.

Aston has changed up the inside of the DBX for this edition. It gets a revised lower center console that contains new drive mode buttons that replace the switch found in the traditional DBX. There's also an active exhaust switch, which opens the capability of the new quad tailpipe sports exhaust system without the vehicle being in Sport mode.
The DBX's Comfort seats have been traded for standard 16-way power-adjustable Sport Plus seats (Comfort are a no-cost option). Heated front and rear seats are standard.
Aston Martin will sell the model with the buyer's choice of three upholstery themes: Accelerate, a mix of leather and Alcantara; Comfort and Inspire Sport feature semi-aniline leather.
The company's Q by Aston Martin bespoke division is able to customize the model.
Aston Martin DBX7070 production will start in the first quarter of 2022. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter.
The performance SUV is priced to start at $232,000 in the U.S., not including designation and delivery charges. That a $46,400 upcharge from the traditional DBX model.
