A shooting at an overnight Halloween party left a man dead and a woman injured in New York City early Sunday morning, according to police.
A spokesperson with the New York Police Department (NYPD) told Newsweek on Sunday afternoon that police responded to a 911 call at 6:21 a.m. after receiving a report that a man was shot.
Upon arrival, NYPD officers found a 28-year-old man who was shot in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 51-year-old woman was shot in her left elbow. She is expected to survive her injuries and was transferred to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
No arrests were made and no details were revealed about the motive behind the shooting and whether the suspect/s knew the victims. However, the NYPD is still investigating the fatal incident. Authorities didn't release the name of the deceased victim pending proper family notification.

The shooting happened inside a rental space on Atlantic Avenue near Grand Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, the New York Daily News reported.
Past Halloween Shootings
The holiday has unfortunately been proven to be deadly for some.
A Halloween party shooting in Texarkana, Texas, last year left a 20-year-old man dead and nine people injured, according to police. The shooting happened at a party held inside Octavia's Event Center with at least "a couple hundred people" present.
When police arrived, "they encountered a large number of people running from the building and several inside suffering from gunshot wounds."
A spokesperson from the Texarkana Texas Police Department told Newsweek at the time that 21-year-old Keuntae McElroy, a local resident, was arrested for the shooting and charged with aggravated assault.
"They [the police] have been searching for him since, contacting several family members and friends. McElroy eventually turned himself in late this morning and was arrested," the spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
In a separate incident last year, a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot and another was wounded while trick-or-treating in Indiana after several men opened fire on them and their friends.
One of the trick-or-treaters told police that he had a verbal argument with a man around 30 to 45 minutes prior to the shooting. The man had "threatened to get a .38 and shoot them," a court document stated.
The police arrested the 23-year-old shooter, Desmond Crews, who was charged with murder and attempted murder. Officers were able to catch the shooter after one of the trick-or-treaters' father chased Crews down.
