Josh Hammer
Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large And Host,
"The Josh Hammer Show"

Welcome back! I was off in Armenia this past week, where I was a guest of the Philos Project on a special "VIP" group trip. It was fascinating to see the region up close—especially the deeply complex geopolitics and the dangerous situation currently unfolding in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region as it pertains to Christian Armenia and its national neighbor (and secular-leaning Muslim rival) Azerbaijan. The highlight of the trip, for me, was a visit to the mountainous border town of Jermuk, which is picture-esque and suffered incoming Azeri fire just last September—notwithstanding the fact that Jermuk is not in Nagorno-Karabakh but is in Armenia proper. In any event, I took the week off work, which meant I did not have a newsletter or write a new weekly syndicated column. This week, it's back to regular programming.

I have had one column since my last newsletter was released. My column explained the broader context behind the recent launching of "Jews Against Soros," an initiative I cofounded with my friend Will Scharf and which I highlighted in our previous newsletter. Put simply, George Soros is a profoundly evil man who spreads his immense wealth to bankroll some of the most egregious and disreputable causes known throughout the U.S., Israel, his native Hungary, and elsewhere around the world. Furthermore, the notion that one is necessarily antisemitic for criticizing Soros (and his son Alexander, who is now taking over the reins), who is a self-hating Jew who is despised by the current Israeli government for (among other things) his massive funding of anti-Israel organizations and pro-Palestinian agitprop, is so unserious as to not even pass the laugh test. As Rabbi Dov Fischer wrote in a New York Post op-ed last year, to criticize Soros is not only not antisemitic—it is a mitzvah.

I have had three podcast episodes since my last newsletter was released. First, I had a short special-edition episode for all the golf fans out there, unpacking the recent bombshell—and totally unexpected—news of the PGA Tour/LIV Golf merger, which has shaken up the sports world. ( You can listen to that episode on Apple, Spotify or here.) Second, I had on the show Alex Stein, host of "Prime Time with Alex Stein" on BlazeTV, to discuss his ongoing battle with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and how We the People should wage our fight against the corrupt ruling class uniparty political establishment. (Catch that episode on Apple, Spotify or here.) Finally, I recorded an episode on former President Trump's unprecedented federal indictment, the Biden family's quid pro quo bribery/corruption in Ukraine, the continuing divorce of the GOP from woke Big Business, and my impressions from my trip last week to Armenia. (Listen on Apple, Spotify or here.)

In terms of media appearances over the past two weeks: I have done a couple of CenterClip audio op-eds on former President Trump's unprecedented federal indictment and Hunter Biden's guilty plea on federal tax charges, analyzed the immediate aftermath of the Trump indictment on the nationally syndicated "Jesse Kelly Show," wrote an essay for the Claremont Institute's American Mind online journal on the all-encompassing nature of our raucous contemporary politics and the notion that there is no "escape hatch" from that politics, co-signed Live Action's new powerful statement calling for the pro-life movement to pursue constitutional personhood for the unborn, joined Fred Pawle on ADH TV (Australia) to discuss the latest developments in U.S. politics, joined Rita Panahi on Sky News Australia to discuss the uncomfortable truth that President Biden has seriously declining mental faculties, joined "Tipping Point with Kara McKinney" on One America News Network to discuss my American Mind essay and trip to Armenia, joined the "Carl Jackson Show" on Salem Podcast Network to discuss Jews Against Soros, joined the "Steak for Breakfast" podcast to discuss Jews Against Soros and the 2024 GOP presidential primary, joined the "Officer Tatum Show" (with guest-host Carl Jackson) to discuss Biden family corruption in Ukraine and Jews Against Soros, and (as always) co-hosted a recent production of the Edmund Burke Foundation's weekly "NatCon Squad" podcast (I was off in Armenia last week, so this is the episode from two weeks ago). Also, a special thanks to Dominic Green for this kind shout-out to "Jews Against Soros" in The Jewish Chronicle, the British Jewish community's most prominent publication.

Our highlighted right-leaning Newsweek op-eds from the past two weeks include selections from Katya Sedgwick, Kristan Hawkins, Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), former U.S. Attorney General (and U.S. Senator) Jeff Sessions, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

We Are Jews Against Soros

George Soros is an evil man. In fact, he is one of the most evil men currently shaping American and Western politics, and global events more generally.

To straightforwardly opine in this manner is not to traffic in antisemitism or noxious Jew-baiting. It is simply to share one's perspective about one of the most influential political donors, "philanthropists," and social activists in the world—someone who doles out countless sums to undermine and reshape in his dystopian image entire countries, spreading across at least five separate continents.

It is frankly astounding that this even needs to be said. I am a Jewish columnist, podcaster, and public speaker. As such, I routinely share my opinions as a basic feature of my job. I imagine some of those opinions are provocative—perhaps highly so—for a subset of the population, especially those of a left-of-center bent. Some (very) small percentage of my critics may hate me and hate my opinions because I am Jewish, but it is surely the case that the overwhelming majority of my critics disagree with me on the merits of my ideas and contributions to the public discourse. Unless I have a compelling reason to believe a specific critic is acting out of rank bigotry, I operate from a baseline presumption that the critic is not a Jew-hater, but simply disagrees with my position.
