Josh Hammer
Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large And Host,
"The Josh Hammer Show"

Welcome back! Here are some highlights from the past week.

My most recent column focused on the emerging divide between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the question of what happens in Gaza the day after Israel deems Hamas to be eradicated. The Biden administration's policy, as outlined by both Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, is predicated upon the assumption that the Hamas Holocaust of Oct. 7, 2023, was not a game-changing, paradigm-shifting event—the kind of event that causes one to revisit a situation's underlying premises and fundamentally reassess a situation from the ground up. But the Oct. 7 pogrom was precisely that sort of event—and as such, it should mark the final death knell for a U.S-backed "two-state solution" (an idea that frankly should have died after the arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat's Second Intifada of 2000–2005) centered around Israeli territorial concessions to create an independent "Palestinian state" in Gaza and Judea and Samaria (i.e., the "West Bank"). It is more plausible that the tooth fairy exists than the "two-state solution," as conceived by Democratic presidents like Biden and Barack Obama before him, ever becomes reality. The Biden administration, accordingly, desperately needs a reality check.

For my most recent show episode, I discussed last week's election results (in particular, the very disappointing abortion referendum in Ohio and the gubernatorial race in neighboring Kentucky) and the newly discovered details about so-called "journalists" who were embedded with Hamas before the Oct. 7 terror attacks in Israel (scandal of the century if fully corroborated!) before concluding with our signature "Hammertime" rapid-fire segment. You can listen to that episode on Apple, Spotify or here. Also, as a reminder: We are now officially in radio! Beginning this past weekend, you can tune in on Saturdays at 6:00 PM PDT/9:00 PM EDT and Sundays at 8:00 AM PDT/11:00 AM EDT to AM 770 KTTH (Seattle) to hear new episodes of "The Josh Hammer Show." If you are a radio station manager interested in bringing my show to your station, please email Jesse Edwards: j.edwards@newsweek.com.

In terms of other media hits and appearances since our last newsletter, I recorded CenterClip audio op-eds on the state of the pro-life movement, certain media outlets' seeming complicity in the Hamas Holocaust of Oct. 7, Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-La.) attempt to prevent a government shutdown, the new SCOTUS ethics reform code of conduct, and the interchangeable nature of "pro-Palestinian" and "anti-Israel"; joined the "Laura Coates Show" on SiriusXM "P.O.T.U.S." to discuss the third GOP presidential primary debate and what the world should be demanding of Hamas in order to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza; joined "Centerpoint" on TBN to discuss the House's correct censure of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for using the genocidal phrase, "from the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free"; joined "Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey" on BlazeTV for a wide-ranging discussion about the Israel-Hamas war and the rise of the pro-Hamas radical Left, skyrocketing Jew-hatred both domestically and globally, and what we can do to fight back; joined "NTD News Today" on NTD News to discuss the Republican Party and the politics of abortion; joined the "Steve Deace Show" on BlazeTV for the always-entertaining week-in-review "Deace Group" roundtable; joined "Tipping Point with Kara McKinney" on One America News Network to discuss free speech, "cancel culture," and repulsive support for Hamas on university campuses; and joined "Jenna Ellis in the Morning" on American Family Radio to discuss the fight against DEI and ESG, as well as why the Left cannot acknowledge skyrocketing antisemitism in America and around the world.

In terms of public speaking appearances, I am in St. Louis right now for a couple of Federalist Society talks on constitutional law. I also have a big Young America's Foundation event at the University of Michigan tomorrow evening on the Israel-Hamas war and the West's broader fight against the global jihad—stay tuned to hear how that goes!

Our additional highlighted right-leaning Newsweek op-eds from the past week include selections from Steve Cortes, Gordon G. Chang, Liel Leibovitz, Paul du Quenoy, and Aviva Klompas and Rachel Fish.

Gaza After the War: Biden Needs a Reality Check

As Israel continues its systematic assault on Hamas deep inside Gaza, closing in on high-ranking targets and putting the jihadist outfit's sprawling subterranean tunnel network squarely in its crosshairs, the conversation has already begun to shift away from the warfare on the ground. True, much painful fighting likely remains; true as well, no one can predict the extent to which Hezbollah or the Iranian regime itself might escalate, thereby risking a full-fledged regional conflagration.

But the war will, at some point, end. And a gap has already emerged between the positions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joe Biden when it comes to what happens in Gaza the day after Israel deems that the cancerous Hamas tumor has been sufficiently eradicated.

On the one hand, Netanyahu avowed this week that Israel "will for an indefinite period have security responsibility" in Gaza after the war. On the other hand, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, speaking on behalf of a deeply unpopular president who faces a difficult re-election next year and has endured declining Muslim-American support over the past month, stated this week that "it is clear that Israel cannot occupy Gaza" after the war.
