Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have welcomed a baby girl named Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
The couple's new bundle of joy was born by a surrogate on January 15 in San Diego, according to the birth certificate obtained by TMZ, which was also confirmed by E! News.
The actress announced the birth of her first child on Instagram back in January, telling fans: "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."
This is the first child for Chopra and her husband Nick (of the Jonas Brothers), who tied the knot back in 2018.
According to the Times of India, the name Malti has Sanskrit origins and is a popular name in India.
The newspaper also states that Malti means "moonlight or small fragrant flower."
While Malti is a popular girl's name India, it is also reportedly a sweet nod to Chopra's mother, Madhu Akhouri Chopra, who goes by the name Madhu Malti on Instagram.
Meanwhile, fans on social media have also been pointing out that Malti's middle name, Marie, is a nod to her paternal grandmother, Denise Miller-Jonas, whose middle name is reportedly Marie.
The couple has yet to officially announce the name but Chopra's mother previously spoke about their tough decision.
"We haven't finalized it yet. When the priest gives us the name, then it will happen. Not now," she said, per The Hindustan Times.
One becoming a grandmother, she added: "I was so happy to become a grandmother. I am smiling all the time. I'm very happy."
Chopra herself is yet to speak about motherhood publicly, but she did reference her daughter in a recent interview with YouTuber and comedian Lilly Singh.
"As a new parent right now, I keep thinking that I will never be imposing my desires, fears, my upbringing on to my child," the 39-year-old said. "I have always believed that children come through you, not from you.
"There is no belief like this is my child and I will shape everything. They come through you to find and build their own life. Recognizing that really helped me, my parents were very non-judgmental in a certain way."
Chopra was involved in a controversy with Rosie O'Donnell earlier this year after the comedian incorrectly assumed that Chopra's father was the author Deepak Chopra.
