A street performer in New York City has gone viral in a TikTok video viewed 4.7 million times. TikToker @hannaheeakin, who's an actress and filmmaker named Hannah Eakin, came upon the unique performance in a subway in the city, and people are loving the artist.
The video started with @hannaheeakin wearing a mask and a scarf as she looked at the camera with the song Emotional Piano Instrumental In E Minor playing with Tom Bailey backing tracks. She walked in the subway with the wording, "New York is pretty scary right now... ." She added, "But look at what I just saw."
The TikToker stopped to catch a glimpse of the street performer, @jazzajilo, who was wearing an all-white outfit complete with a hat as he danced and jumped to the music he played from his saxophone. Surrounding the performer were small dancing animatronic animals in various spots. Some of the animals danced together. There were also platforms, speakers, and signs that read "Dancing is happiness," and the artist's handles for his various social media accounts as well as Venmo and CashApp.
The TikToker got a good look at the various small animatronics, which included bears, a Santa Claus, a duck, cats, and a moose. They all danced along to the music.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, musicians and singers, which includes a wide array of industries, have a median pay of $31.40 an hour. However, it's unclear how much this viral street performer makes.
More than 1.3 million people liked the TikTok, and over 11,000 people commented on it. Viewers seem to love the street performer. Some even admitted to sending him money after seeing the video.
"Just Venmo'd him," a TikToker said. "What a joy."
Other people also sent the performer money. "I just Venmo'd him $ for the vibes all day way from CA," a viewer wrote.
"Street performers really have no idea how important they are to us," a TikToker expressed.
Many people appreciated the performer. "This is so cute, I just imagine him buying all of those and setting them up to make people happy," a viewer said.
"Omg! I would totally tip that guy," another user added. "He brings happiness!"
While one user called it "amazing," adding, "I didn't know I needed to see this today."
"I would watch a full hour of this," another TikToker admitted.
