An Ohio woman was left with a broken nose and cheekbone following a violent encounter in a McDonald's on Sunday, a dispute reportedly sparked by a wrong food order.
Britnay Price, 30, became embroiled in a heated confrontation with the manager of the Colerain Township store, after going in to complain about mistakes in an order for cheeseburgers and Happy Meals placed at the drive-thru, WLWT reported.
A police report named the McDonald's manager as Nashawnda Johnson, noting she was questioned by officers about the woman's allegations.
Johnson reportedly confirmed they had an argument but said Price had thrown food at her first.
The report said: "Johnson stated as a reaction, she began throwing food/objects back at Ms. Price when food/objects struck Ms. Price in the face leaving an injury." Witnesses at the scene noted Johnson had "retaliated and began throwing food back."
In an on-air segment with WLWT this week, Price could be seen with a severely bruised left eye and what appeared to be cuts or stitches along her nose and cheekbone. The woman said the manager may have had an object in her hand. "She was over the counter. So I think she literally swung with something over the counter and hit me in my face with it," Price elaborated.
"Temperatures were high. You know, everybody was a little hostile. But at the end of the day, I came in there ordering kids meals. I didn't come in there to have a brawl, you know." It remains unclear what type of "object" was involved. Price said she would be undergoing surgery.
In a statement released to local media Monday, a spokesperson for Colerain McDonald's said: "The safety of our customers and employees is of utmost importance to us. We are looking into this matter and will take the appropriate steps once our investigation is complete."
The corporate PR team did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It is far from the first time tensions between customers and staff have been raised at the establishment.
As reported last month, a "crazed" Florida man allegedly attacked another customer's car with a shopping cart after not getting a Filet-o-Fish from the drive-thru. The suspect, who fled the scene, caused about $2,000 worth of damage to the victim's car, police said.
Back in July, a Tennessee woman was facing an aggravated assault charge after being accused of attacking a McDonald's store manager with a stun gun and trying to pull him out of the small drive-thru window—a confrontation which appeared to be sparked by delayed food order.
