A nurse in Ohio has been fired after a video of her using a racial slur over the Fourth of July weekend went viral.
The video shared on Twitter shows a biracial woman telling the man filming why she can use a racially derogative word, and the nurse interrupting her and shouting "n*****" to a man's face while surrounded by police who then move her and her friend on.
The Twitter user who shared the video said: "Krazy white girls can just say the n-word in my face and 12 won't do a damm thing."
Another video posted by the same user shows the nurse on the floor, and the caption implied that as the police didn't do anything, others took the matters into their own hands. The original Twitter user said: "told her I was gon get a bih to knock The racist out of her."
Since being posted on July 4, the video has amassed 1.7 million views at the time of writing. Other Twitter users quickly identified the woman in the video and contacted her employer, the Nationwide Children's Hospital.
In a statement posted to Facebook on July 6, the Nationwide Children's Hospital said that the nurse's conduct was "extremely troubling, inconsistent with our values, and violated Nationwide Children's social media policies."
The hospital said that "due to the unique and public nature" of the incident, they were announcing that the nurse was terminated.

The statement also said: "Nationwide Children's does not tolerate racist behavior or other conduct that insults the dignity of our staff, patients and families. Nationwide Children's leadership strongly believes racism is a public health crisis that harms children and the community as a whole.
"Nationwide Children's is committed to Standing Against Racism and Standing For Health Equity. All staff are encouraged to take advantage of the hospital's many resources on diversity and inclusion. Additionally, the hospital will be announcing new resources and training programs to both advance a diverse and inclusive workplace, and help to end racism."
The other woman in the video has since posted a statement to Twitter in which she says: "I'm aware of the video circulating that I am in with my best friend's sister. We have never been close and what she said is despicable."
She explained what she was trying to tell the man filming before she was interrupted by the nurse and said: "I am biracial. I have experienced lots of racially motivated hatred. Me being 'half and half' doesn't invalidate the harm I've experienced growing up in a small town.
"As a biracial woman I will continue to use my voice and educate those around me."
The woman also shared direct messages with the man who was filming and who posted the video to Twitter that appear to show him telling her he cannot delete a tweet unless she gives him her number. He also asked her to hang out and told her he would treat her "like a queen."
