Old Bay Hot Sauce: Where to Buy, Prices

Old Bay has launched its very own hot sauce today. Just yesterday, the Maryland-based spice brand revealed that the sauce would be available to purchase online on Wednesday and it promptly went on sale at 11 a.m. ET.

Soon after becoming available to purchase online, the Old Bay website crashed, apparently due to the excitement around the launch. In response to a Twitter follower, Old Bay tweeted: "Working on it now. Overwhelming response over here."

On Tuesday, Old Bay tweeted: "#OLDBAYHOTSAUCE IS COMING. Less than 1 day until you can get your hands on a bottle (or 10) of this LIMITED EDITION product, available on http://oldbay.com. Tag someone who NEEDS this."

The tweet was met with excitement by fans and at the time of writing has more than 1,400 retweets and 4,000 likes. The same post on Facebook gained more than 3,100 likes, 1,500 comments, and 3,100 shares.

Goldie Taylor, editor-at-large of The Daily Beast, tweeted: "Dreams really do come true..."

Actress Jerrika Hinton tweeted: "Quit playing" to which Old Bay responded with a gif of a woman captioned: "I'm not playing with you."

Twitter user @Squidz said: "WHAT YOU MEAN "limited edition" ?? better make that it forever edition."

Trey Smith, actor and son of Will Smith, simply said: "I'm freaking out."

According to The Baltimore Sun, the hot sauce will also be available to purchase at select stores, including Acme, Giant, Food Lion, Martin's, Safeway, Wegmans and Weis, for a limited time. A 10 o.z. bottle has a suggested retail price of $3.49.

The hot sauce has been described by Old Bay as having the iconic flavor of Old Bay, tangy, with a kick of heat. The bottle says it's "for game day, brunch and happy hour."

Old Bay also said the hot sauce will go well with chilis, soups, stews, chicken wings, nachos and dips, Bloody Marys and other cocktails.

Old Bay Seasoning is a spice blend featuring celery salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes and paprika, created in Baltimore, Maryland, by McCormick & Company.

The company's Twitter bio reads: "There are only two things you need to know about #OLDBAY Seasoning: 1. it's great on seafood and 2. It's great on everything else."
