Episode 8 of Only Murders in the Building was perhaps the most intense episode to date. Mabel (played by Selena Gomez), Oliver (Martin Short), and Charles (Steve Martin) were right to suspect the Dimas' as criminals but unfortunately, they were wrong to pin Tim Kono's murder on them.
Newsweek has a full recap of the gripping eighth episode below.
Following on from Episode 7's non-verbal episode, the latest installment picked up with Theo (James Caverly), Teddy Dimas' (Nathan Lane) son, having kidnapped Mabel and Oscar. He had them blindfolded and gagged in the back of a van, which was used for transporting dead bodies to a morgue. In the previous episode, we learned the Dimas' were grave robbers, stealing jewelry from the deceased and selling it on the black market to make a profit.
Oliver and Mabel were greeted by Teddy, who apologized for the inconvenience and invited them for a chat in the back of his car. As they returned to the Arconia, Teddy threatened Oliver and Mabel, instructing them to put an end to their podcast (which he sponsored) just as it was beginning to take off. He gave them a 24-hour deadline and as instructed, Oliver and Mabel scrambled to find Charles so they could bring the podcast to an end.
When they arrive at Charles' apartment, Charles and Jan (Amy Ryan) greeted them both with a huge breakthrough in their case. They had managed to access Tim Kono's phone and were able to put together a timeline of events before his death. That evening saw our favorite crime-solving trio, with the help of Jan and some podcast fans, piece together a case which pointed to Theo and Teddy Dimas as Tim Kono's killers.
Oliver even performed a dramatic re-enactment. In his version of events, Theo had written Tim's suicide note that Tim had discovered and confronted Theo about. Theo, in an elaborate plan to kill Tim, then pulled the fire alarm outside Tim's apartment. This meant that when Tim went to leave his apartment like the rest of the building's tenants, Theo was waiting outside with a gun in his hand and shot Tim in his apartment doorway.
Everybody agreed with Oliver's timeline, except Jan, who was convinced the Dimas' were not the killers. For her, Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton), Tim Kono's cat-loving neighbor who was at war with Tim over Tim's hatred of his cats, was the main suspect. However, Jan's theories were dismissed and the podcast was recorded, with the episode being released ahead of Teddy's deadline.
And just like that, Teddy and Theo's grave-robbing enterprise became public knowledge and the NYPD went to their door, arrest warrant in hand. As Oliver, Charles, Oscar, and Mabel celebrated their success in taking down the Dimas family, Oliver received a phone call from Detective Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) that would change everything.
Detective Williams had finally received the toxicology reports back from the coroner's office. This time around, Tim's cause of death was listed as a homicide and it was found Tim had been poisoned. Worse, Tim was already dead before he was shot. CCTV footage also proved Theo and Teddy were not in the building at the time of Tim's death, ruling them out as suspects.
Overjoyed that Jan was right, Charles made his way over to her place to apologize and get her back on board to solve Tim's death. However, in a twist nobody could have seen coming, Charles came across Jan lying unconscious in a pool of blood in her hallway.
We are right back to where we started—there's still a murderer in the building and Oliver, Mabel, and Charles are determined to find them.

Who Killed Tim? Meet the Suspects Ranked
1. Howard
There is only one suspect right now and that is Tim's cat-loving neighbor Howard Morris.
He was the prime suspect earlier in the series after it was discovered he had been feuding with Tim before his death over his cat Evelyn. Howard suspected Tim had poisoned Evelyn, ultimately giving him a reason to seek revenge if he felt so inclined.
Cat pawprints were also found at the scene, suggesting Howard may have been in Tim's apartment.
Right now, Howard is once again the strongest suspect, in the absence of any new leads, after Teddy and Theo had solid alibis, including CCTV footage which proved they were not at the scene.

2. An anonymous killer
Right now, anybody could be the killer. Although the case against Howard looks strong, it was uncovered in toxicology reports that Tim had been poisoned, just like Howard's belief Evelyn was.
Oliver's dog Winnie was also poisoned early in the series, meaning there could be someone out there using poison as their deadly weapon, posing the question why would Howard want to poison his own, dearly beloved cat? Perhaps Howard has been a victim all of this time.
One thing is for sure, Tim's killer and Jan's attacker, and potentially murderer, are still out there and Mabel, Oliver, and Charles are nowhere near close to catching them.
Only Murders in the Building airs Tuesdays on Hulu.
