The 2021 Academy Awards may be coming after a challenging year for the film industry, but as the Best Picture category reveals, some great films were able to come out amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As announced by The White Tiger actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband, The Voice judge Nick Jonas on March 15, the eight Best Picture nominees for 2021 are: The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal and Trial of Chicago 7.

The lack of theaters currently open may be very bad news for the industry as a whole, but it is great news for those who want to catch up on the Best Picture nominees, as it means that nearly all of them are available to stream now on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and HBO Max.

In the lead-up to the ceremony, set to take place on April 26, Nomadland is the frontrunner after winning a Golden Globe and a number of other key awards across the season. However, as the victories of Moonlight over La La Land and of Parasite over 1917 show, anything can happen on Oscars night.
