Outer Banks may not have officially been renewed for Season 3 yet, but with the show currently at the top of the Netflix charts across the world, a renewal seems very possible.
The lack of renewal has also not stopped the cast and crew hinting at what the future of the show could entail.
With Season 2 (spoilers ahead) ending with the reveal that Big John (played by Charles Halford) is still alive while the Pogues find themselves as castaways, there is plenty of drama set to come on the Netflix show.
Everything the Outer Banks Cast and Crew Have Said About Season 3

The Show is Planned Out For the Next Few Seasons...
This is according to John B. actor Chase Stokes, who told TV Line, "we're hoping to continue to tell the story for a couple more seasons," meaning they are hoping to beat the so-called "Netflix curse" that sees so many shows canceled after three seasons.
As for Season 3, Stokes previewed an emotional one for his character—after all, it seems he is about to find out his father is actually alive.
Speaking about this, the actor said: "It wasn't like he was swept away by a natural disaster or whatever the case may be. It was his choice to go out and leave his son, and what does that look like?
"What does it look like when a kid comes face-to-face with a parent who's left and chose to put him in these circumstances and has no idea what has happened in the meantime?"

...But the Season 3 Plot Is Not Set in Stone Yet
Outer Banks executive producer Jonas Pate told TV Line in July that there was not yet a detailed "master plan" for Season 3.
However, he hinted that Limbrey (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Big John may work together to become a force to be reckoned with. "Limbrey has been aligned with Big John in the past, so it's definitely a likely way we will go," he suggested.
The EP also hinted that the treasure hunt for the gold in Season 1 and the Cross of Santo Domingo in Season 2 would start to get tied into a "larger mythology" in Season 3 linked to Big John.
Big John's Return

Co-showrunner Josh Pate spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what Big John's return could mean for the show, and hinted that the Johns are "going to meet back up and John B has to reconcile his idealized version of his dead dad with the reality of his alive dad."
Co-showrunner Shannon Burke, meanwhile, called this plot the "spine" of Season 3
A JJ and Kiara Romance
With the Pogues all stranded together on the island they have called Poguelandia, they are going to have little to do other than to have romances with each other.
Particularly, JJ and Kiara's romance may be further explored as many OBX viewers start to 'ship' them. Josh Pate told EW: "We're aware of how the fans feel about JJ and Ki. We wanted to tease that for the third season...It seems like an interesting idea to explore but we kind of left it for Season 3."
John B and Sarah Face Real Life
While a JJ and Kiara relationship may bloom in Season 3, John B and Sarah are going to have to deal with the realities of being in a relationship after their Season 2 'marriage.'
Sarah actor Madelyn Cline told Entertainment Tonight, "it'd be really fun in Season 3, if we get one, to see them actually start to truly get to know each other in a very real sense."
"They're married, but they actually kind of don't know a whole lot about each other."
Ward vs. Limbrey
In a TV Line interview, Ward Cameron actor Charles Esten hinted that his character may be in for a big fall in Season 3 after ending the current season with the gold.
This is because of two threats he has not considered—Big John who is thinks is dead, and Limbrey who he has underestimated.
Speaking of the latter, Esten said: "I do think he wrote her off, yeah...The arrogance of [the fact] that it's been a hard-fought war, but he keeps sort of coming out on top. He keeps making these mistakes. At a certain point, you know, he might forget that there's other sharks out there."
