A dog owner's sneaky way of disguising her puppy from the landlord has gone viral on TikTok.

In the November 23 TikTok video posted to the account @moosie.pooh, the owner of a Rottweiler puppy told the landlord that it was a black Lab. The clip has so far gained over 4.5 million views, 344,000 likes, and 300 comments.

The little lie was not permanent. The TikTok user explained that their puppy had arrived sooner than anticipated, so they needed to disguise him before their move-in date.

"We had to go incognito," the caption reads.

Rottweilers are famous for their rust-colored eyebrows and black fur. One look at those eyebrows would be a dead giveaway for a landlord that does not allow the breed. But this owner decided to color the brows.

The puppy's face looked like a spitting image of a black Lab. Even a quick Google test couldn't spot that the puppy was a Rottweiler. The owner wrote in the comments that it has been over two years since recording the clip. All in the clear from getting caught!

It's unclear why the TikToker needed to disguise her Rottweiler, but many landlords have breed restrictions when it comes to dogs that could be considered aggressive or are large in size.

Along with Rottweilers, the most common dogs banned from apartments include pit bulls, German shepherds, boxers, chow chows, Doberman pinschers, Great Danes, and huskies, according to Apartment List.

Some renters can get around the breed restriction without having to disguise their dogs. Apartment List suggests showing a picture to the property manager before any in-depth lease conversations. Owners might want to show training certificates, give references, and offer a pet deposit.

As it turns out, this isn't the first time a dog owner went to great lengths to tell a little white lie for their pet.

"My baby is rottweiler, pitbull, doberman, and shepherd. But on paper, he's just a 'German shepherd mix,'" commented one viewer.

Another person wrote: "I couldn't have a full-blooded pit bull at my apartment so my vet put pit mix on her paperwork. She said she's done it for herself too."

Another TikTok user wrote: "Mine is 75 percent Rottweiler, 12.5 percent English Mastiff, 25 percent Cane Corso. On paper he is an 'unknown mixed giant breed' lol. He's a total lover boy."
