With colder temperatures approaching, it's finally time for snow, and pets are loving it too. A cat owner has left the internet in stitches after sharing a video of her cat taking a deep dive in the snow, which has quickly gone viral on social media.

In the post, shared on TikTok on Monday, under the username Norahaekelt, the cat owner can be seen holding the feline in her hands before dropping him in a pile of snow gathered around her porch. The tuxedo cat manages to clamber from the snow pile with the help of his owner who promptly wraps him up around her arms.

The hilarious post, which quickly gathered hundreds of thousands of viewers, comes with a caption that says: "I didn't expect him to sink in that far..." And the poster also added: "He loooves snow.. but I didn't expect him to sink that deep. Normally he loves it.. but his face normally stays free.."

During the cold season, cats can suffer hypothermia and frostbite, just like us, so helping their body temperature stay at a comfortable level is key. According to Medivet, most cats will usually opt to stay inside when it snows, but if your cat still decides to venture outside despite the hostile weather, you'll need to keep an eye on them and limit the amount of time they spend out in the chill.

"Always provide a warm, comfortable place for them to return home to with plenty of fresh water to keep them hydrated," its website explains, suggesting that you should also ensure you have a working cat flap for safe access back into the house.

However, cat flaps can easily freeze up or become blocked by snow; so you must check them regularly to ensure they remain accessible.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 730,300 views and 155,900 likes on the platform.

The clip also got some criticism from concerned viewers. Haleemah Khayer wrote: "There could've been something sharp or dangerous under all that snow." And Clare added: "But why do this to your poor kitty." Jenny joked: "cat feels betrayal for the first time."
