Who is JB Smoove? Meet the 'Password' Celebrity Guest and Kevin Hart's Pal

Password is back on NBC for a brand new season and JB Smoove has been confirmed as one of the celebrity guests.

The comic will appear on the August 23 episode of the quiz show, hosted by Nope actor Keke Palmer and also guest starring Jimmy Fallon.

Smoove will be playing alongside Fallon to help contestants win a cash prize on the series, which initially ran back in 1961. It was then revived as a segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, before landing a full season of its own.

Each week boasts a different celebrity guest and Password's season finale will feature a star-studded, all-celebrity lineup playing for charity.

What Age Is JB Smoove?

J.B. Smoove, real name Jerry Angelo Brooks, is 56 years old.

He was born on December 16, 1965.

What Has J.B. Smoove Been In Before?

JB Smoove has had a seriously impressive career since he first came to wider attention on HBO's comedy showcase Def Comedy Jam in 1995.

Since then, he has scored recurring roles on Everybody Hates Chris and Saturday Night Live, where he worked as a writer for three years. Smoove has also been a regular cast member on Curb Your Enthusiasm since 2007, playing Leon Black.

Smoove's first televised comedy special, J.B. Smoove: That's How I Dooz It, aired on Comedy Central in 2012. He has also starred in the show Real Husbands of Hollywood, where he played a fictionalized version of himself.

Smoove hosted the eighth season of the NBC reality series Last Comic Standing in 2014 and appeared as a guest judge on the first season of The Masked Singer.

Fans may also recognize Smoove from his role as Julius Dell in the Marvel's Spider-Man: Far From Home and its sequel Spider-Man: No Way Home. He currently voices Frank the Plant in HBO Max's Harley Quinn series.

In July Smoove announced the 74th Emmy Awards nominations alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Melissa Fumero.

Are JB Smoove and Kevin Hart Friends?

JB Smoove is friends, and has often worked, with fellow comedian Kevin Hart.

The duo have starred together in Real Husbands of Hollywood, a parody series that originally ran on BET from 2013 to 2016 but also made a comeback on BET+ in 2022.

When discussing Real Husbands of Hollywood, Hart told Essence magazine how his friendship with Smoove, and the other cast mates, helped make the show a success.

"The chemistry is amazing. I think it's major because we all put our egos aside regardless of who anybody is or what they're doing. The task at hand was to make a good show," he said.

Is JB Smoove Married?

J.B. Smoove has been married to his wife, actress and singer Shahidah Omar, since 2007.

The pair even starred together in Real Husbands of Hollywood in 2013, and again in 2022.

Smoove has an adult daughter, Jerrica Brooks, from a previous relationship.
