Tera Shards are a new resource introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet allowing players to change the Tera type of their Pokemon. This is exceptionally useful if you have a Pokemon with a bad Tera type, as this allows you to really maximize the strength and power of that Pokemon.

But, changing your Tera type requires 50 Tera Shards of whatever Tera type you want to change to, making it somewhat difficult to pull off if you don't know how to farm for Tera Shards.

Here's everything you need to know to collect Tera Shards quickly.

How to Farm Tera Shards

There are a few different ways for players to get their hands on Tera Shards, chief among them being taking on Tera Pokemon found throughout Paldea. These Pokemon sparkle in the overworld, allowing you to take them on and then catch or defeat them.

Unfortunately, earning Tera Shards from Tera Pokemon is far from the most efficient way to farm for these useful resources. Instead, you'll want to focus on Tera Raids, which are found throughout the game world.

More importantly, you will want to focus on the multi-star Tera Raids, similar to those found during the special Tera Raid events.

These multi-star Tera Raids can reward you with anywhere from two Tera Shards for three-star raids, to six Tera Shards per six-star Tera Raid that you complete.

Because these raids become more difficult depending on the star-rating, those looking to maximize how many shards they are earning may be more inclined to complete three-star Tera Raids first, as they will be the fastest depending on how strong your Pokemon are.

Further, if you're working your way through the Academy Ace Tournaments, which unlock after completing the Victory Road storyline and the rest of the game's campaign, you can also earn Tera Shards as a reward for completing battles within the Academy Ace Tournaments.

However, these are not guaranteed to appear in the reward pool, making Tera Raids the best way to grind for them.

Being able to change your Pokemon's Tera type is great, especially for trainers trying to get everything they can out of their chosen Pokemon.

If you're looking for even more assistance in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, then picking up items like the Soothe Bell can make your life a lot easier, too.

Additionally, the Amulet Coin allows you to make even more money from trainer battles, which means it is a fantastic option for those who are running low on cash.
