When her owners moved out and left her to fend for herself, black cat Luna found herself abandoned and alone, but her own determination led to a happy ending.
"Luna's story is a truly magical one," Val Bohland from animal rescue center Humane Ohio told Newsweek.
The young cat's tale began in humble surroundings, nestled next to a bar where she found herself homeless after her previous owners moved out.

Forced to seek shelter under the deck of the abandoned home, Luna gave birth to three kittens alone in the streets. Luna's determination to protect her offspring led her to seek help from the patrons of the neighboring bar.
"[She] kept bringing two of her kittens to the steps of the bar next door, asking for help. Unfortunately, the patrons of the bar did not want her around and threatened to force her out," explained Bohland.
Thankfully one of the bar's employees took to social media to find a safe place for Luna and her babies, and before long they were picked up by a woman named Heather who had experience with cats.
"She crawled in the dirt and mud under the deck to retrieve the remaining baby and took the small family of four to her home. Heather then contacted us at Humane Ohio, where we officially made them all a part of the Humane Ohio family," Bohland explained. Heather named Luna, and her three babies Leo, Lyra and Lumen.
It wasn't long until her three kittens were adopted, but Luna was still waiting.
That was until a twist of fate resulted in her very own happy ending. Inspired by Luna's resilience and spirit, a couple looking to bring a new cat into their home were drawn to Luna.
"To say it was love at first sight was an understatement," Bohland said. "Luna has been through a lot of changes in her young life, so it can take a moment to warm up to people and cats she doesn't know—not the case with her new family! The instant they met each other it was as if they had known each other their entire lives."
Now, Luna revels in the warmth and love of her forever home, where she shares her days with another cat companion and a gentle German shepherd. Despite the challenges she has faced, Luna's capacity for love knows no bounds, as she embraces her new family with open paws and a heart full of gratitude.
