The death of Queen Elizabeth II has put the Royal Family under the microscope in the last week, and a resurfaced clip of Prince Harry has once again gone viral.

Many are once again discussing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to separate from the Royal Family, which they announced in 2020, and the backlash against Meghan has continued as she accompanied Prince Harry to London in the wake of the Queen's passing.

However, as critics have continued to blame Meghan for Prince Harry's separation, a recently resurfaced clip of the young prince from 2008 has sparked a conversation about his obvious distaste for the media, many arguing that it started long before he met Meghan.

One viral tweet collected several clips that showed times when Prince Harry refused to hold back from his opinions on the press. In one interview that took place while he was serving on the front lines in Afghanistan, Prince Harry showed disdain for the media and his country when asked if he would ever come back to Afghanistan.

"I don't want to sit around at Windsor because I just genuinely don't like England that much, and, you know, it's nice to be away from all the press and the papers and all the general shite that they write," he said at the time.

In another clip towards the end, he discussed his distrust for the media and was asked, "How far back does that go?"

"I think it's fairly obvious how far back it goes," Prince Harry chuckled. "To when I was very small."

One cannot help but compare the media's coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan to the treatment by the paparazzi given to Prince Harry's mother, Princess Diana, who was constantly combatting intrusive members of the media during her life.

The media's harsh treatment of his wife, whom he met in 2016, only exacerbated his feelings for the media, many have argued.

One user on Twitter reshared the viral video and wrote, "People always act like his misuss made him hate the 🇬🇧press, he's always absolutely hated the media and has never hidden it...."

After marrying Meghan in 2018, the couple split from the Royal Family and moved to the U.S., where they live in Santa Barbara, California.

Regardless of the critics or the media, the couple returned to the UK following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were chatting and shaking hands with mourners who gathered outside of Buckingham Palace.

Newsweek reached out to a representative for Prince Harry and Meghan for additional comment.
