A touching moment shared between the Prince and Princess of Wales at the royal wedding of Princess Eugenie has been praised by fans after resurfacing on social media site TikTok.

William and Kate's relationship has seen renewed interest in recent months, firstly following the release of the final season of Netflix's hit royal drama The Crown, which portrayed a fictionalized account of their early dating history, and then after the news last month that Kate had undergone "planned abdominal surgery" and would be absent from public life until after Easter while she recovered.

During Kate's two-week hospitalization and initial recovery period at their home in Windsor, William canceled his schedule of official engagements and has undertaken a reduced number in the weeks since to support his wife and the couple's three children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).

Since the surgery announcement, fans have taken to social media to share favorite clips of the Wales family at past engagements, with many focused on public displays of affection exchanged between the prince and princess.

Uploaded to TikTok by user, princesscatherine_ on February 21, footage of the couple privately holding hands while Kate chatted to Prince Harry during the wedding of royal relation Princess Eugenie in 2018 has been praised by fans, receiving over 7,000 likes and numerous comments.

"He's like: god when will they stop I just wanna have her to myself," wrote one user of William.

"Hear me out, he's not going to let her go he loves her a little too much 😭," posted another, with a further comment reading: "I love when William gets overprotective and jealous 😭."

Princess Eugenie is the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, the Duchess of York. She married businessman Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle on October 12, 2018, in a ceremony attended by senior members of the royal family.

This year, William and Kate will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary, with the couple having risen through the royal ranks since their marriage on April 29, 2011, to become the Prince and Princess of Wales, titles given to them by King Charles III after his accession to the throne in 2022.

In his first speech broadcast across Britain and the Commonwealth, Charles paid tribute to his son and daughter-in-law, as well as their work.

"As my heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me. He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall, which I have undertaken for more than five decades. Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty," the king said.

"With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given."

Kate's last public appearance prior to her January 16 surgery was on Christmas Day, where she appeared alongside William and senior members of the royal family for the annual Sandringham walkabout. The princess is not expected to be seen at public events until after Easter.
