The Prince and Princess of Wales have become the focus of a new viral video after footage of the pair sharing a public display of affection (PDA) during a Buckingham Palace garden party has resurfaced on social media site TikTok.
The origins of William and Kate's relationship has seen a resurgence in public interest in recent months, after their early dating history was dramatized in the final season of Netflix's hit royal drama The Crown.
The couple met while both studying on the art history program at St Andrew's University in Scotland in 2001. They began dating soon after and their relationship was made public in 2004.
Following their marriage at Westminster Abbey in 2011 the couple began a joint diary of official engagements and together have three children: Prince George (born 2013); Princess Charlotte (2015) and Prince Louis (2018).
In January 2024 it was announced that Kate would be taking an extended period of absence from public life as she recovered from "planned abdominal surgery." She is not expected to return to official events until after Easter, leading fans to post a number of videos and images to social media reflecting on past appearances.
One of the latest of these features a touching moment between the prince and princess during a specially organized garden party at Buckingham Palace in 2017, hosted with Prince Harry to pay tribute to the children of armed forces personnel who had lost their lives in the line of duty.
Uploaded by user royalfamilyfanpage5, on February 13, the clip shows Kate with her arm wrapped around her husband's waist in an unguarded public display of affection. The footage is paired with an image from the same event where William was also seen leaning in towards his wife.
Captioned "Love," the video has been viewed over 156,000 times so far and has received in excess of 5,000 likes and numerous comments, many of which have praised the royal couple and their intimacy.
"True soul mates," wrote one TikTok user. "They don't need constant PDA for the cameras, their love shows when they look at each other."
"They are a beautiful couple," posted another, with a further comment reading: "That's a fantastic love."
William and Kate will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary this year, on April 29.
