Princess Diana gained a reputation as a royal progressive throughout her years as a working member of the family, not just for embracing a more tactile, personable form of royal engagement, but also for her liberal viewpoints and open-mindedness when it came to alternative ways of thinking.
The princess was known, for example, to be interested in astrology, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy and spirituality.
Her mystic side has sparked interest following a reference in Season 5 of Netflix's royal drama, The Crown.
Newsweek has taken a look at Princess Diana's relationship with astrology and the people she turned to for mystic guidance.

Did Princess Diana Have an Astrologer?
Princess Diana was extremely interested in astrology and horoscopes, turning to a number of experts over the years to draw up her charts and interpret planetary movements.
The main expert she consulted and ultimately befriended was London-based Debbie Frank, who worked closely with the royal for a number of years until her death at the age of 36 in a 1997 Paris car crash.
Frank and Diana began their working relationship in 1989, at the height of the royal's marital problems with Prince Charles.
Speaking to You magazine in 2021, the year the princess would have celebrated her 60th birthday, Frank explained that:
"She was a dear friend. Sometimes she would call me up to three times a day, depending on what was happening in her life, and we talked about much more than astrology – everything from raising her sons to her official duties and her life within the royal family. Nothing was off limits; we were very close."
Diana was an astrologically complex person and strong-willed outside of that. Frank has commented on the fact that she has been asked many times why she didn't foresee the princess' tragic death, and to that she answers that she is happy not to see death in people's charts.
"It's crazy to imagine I could have known what was going to happen to Diana, and even if I had, that I would have had the control to stop it," she told You.
"My job is to guide, heal and uplift. Of course, had I known what would happen to Diana, I'd have done everything I could to prevent it."

What Star Sign was Princess Diana?
Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961, under the sign of Cancer.
The sign "runs through the family, all the way back to Henry VIII, and, ahem, the former King Edward VIII, later Duke of Windsor," astrologer Shelley von Strunckel previously told Newsweek.
They are "loyal yet sensitive," and "cautious if not stubborn."
The princess shares her sign with another royal Cancerian in the form of Prince Charles' second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, now Queen Camilla.
Did Princess Diana Believe in Psychics?
As well a forming an appreciation and understanding of astrology, Princess Diana also had a curiosity about psychics, forming a close bond with Simone Simmons, a London-based psychic she met at a wellness center in 1993.
Simmons spoke often to the princess, telling The Telegraph in 2022:
"We were best friends...Yes, I'm a very odd person for some people to think of as Diana's best friend. But at least I'm honest, I'm sincere, and I would never put her wrong. I was very privileged to have such an amazing best friend."
Simmons spoke to the princess in the days before her death and provided evidence to the 2008 inquiry into her death and the 2021 inquiry into how the BBC obtained its 1995 Panorama interview with the royal.
"Diana was a very loving, caring person with a heart that was as big as a house," she said. "And she went around the world shining her light on all the dark corners of the Earth. That's what really motivated her."

Season 5 of The Crown is available to stream now on Netflix.
