Before engaged actress Priyanka Chopra officially says "I do" to fiancé Nick Jonas, the star had the most extravagant bridal shower party to date. The bride-to-be, however, has had to defend her decision of wearing a Marchesa gown to her celebration.

Marchesa was co-founded by designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. Chapman's the former spouse to disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who's been accused of engaging in sexual misconduct by more than 80 women. Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan were among a long list of women to come forward with allegations against Weinstein.

Chapman told Vogue in June how she had "what I thought was a very happy marriage" and "never" suspected Weinstein to be guilty of such behavior. Despite this, Chapman's connection to Weinstein had led some high-profile names to abstain from wearing the brand. Chopra, however, isn't one of them.

"Georgina's a friend of mine and she has been. And it's not her fault," Chopra, 36, told Women's Wear Daily (WWD). "And I don't think it's right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did. That's the wrong attitude."

Chopra continued, "That was a beautiful gown, and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice."

On Tuesday, Chopra shared photos of her bridal shower with her 29.2 million Instagram followers. She explained how she celebrated her upcoming nuptials with "a room full of amazing ladies...and some special gentlemen." She described the event, which included A-list guests like Lupita Nyong'o, as a "perfect" occasion.

"Thank you so much @mubinarattonsey and @anjula_achariafor throwing me such a memorable bridal shower that broke all the rules," Chopra wrote Tuesday via Instagram. "My amazing friends and family who made me feel so special and loved, thank you."

Chopra isn't the first star that's had to defend their choice of wearing Marchesa. In May, actress Scarlett Johansson received a wave of criticism for wearing the luxury brand to the 2018 Met Gala. She later spoke out and explained her reasoning in doing so.

"I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful," Johansson, 33, said in a statement to E! News. "It is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers."

Legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour later backed Johansson's choice during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, saying: "Georgina is a brilliant designer and I don't think that she should be blamed for her husband's behavior. I think it was a great gesture of support on Scarlett's part to wear a dress like that, a beautiful dress like that, on such a public occasion."
