This is a historic moment. We all feel it. We all know it. There are already a number of abortion facilities closing down because of the decision that overruled Roe v. Wade. There are children who were scheduled to be killed by abortion who are now alive instead.
By the end of the week, new laws to protect children will likely go into effect in a dozen states. There are hundreds of state laws on the books right now that had been stalled because of the unjust, illogical, immoral decision of Roe v. Wade. These laws will now be able to go into effect. So this is a tremendous victory.
Children will now have protection in some states, but in the bigger picture, we are just getting started. To send abortion to the states is not full justice. No state, whether pro-life or pro-abortion, should get to decide whether children live or die. The right to life—the most basic human right—is universal and absolute. Children in the womb are human beings. The science is conclusive. Human life doesn't begin at birth. It begins before birth at the moment of fertilization. No one has the right to decide whether an innocent person gets to live or die.
The Constitution is not silent on abortion. The 14th Amendment lays out that states have a responsibility to provide equal protection to their people and that they cannot deprive anyone of life, liberty, or property without due process. That includes everyone, including those in the womb. Preborn babies are just as human as you and me.

It's important to remember that there are many women today who are scared because they've been lied to for almost 50 years. They've been told they can't handle having a baby. They've been told killing their child was their only option. Many states will now have restrictions on abortion, and mothers and fathers need more support than ever to help them care for their children during pregnancy, and after birth. Find and support the pregnancy resource centers in your community. Donate diapers, formula, or your time to mentor and support pregnant women and young parents in need. As a country, we must help raise up women and children. We also need to raise up the role of fatherhood. It is the only way to build a culture of life.
Live Action's newest campaign "What is Abortion?" shares the horrific reality of the four most prevalent abortion procedures. On our website, whatisabortion.com, you can find a resource page that includes support for women and families who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies or who may be low-income and need free, confidential care. These resources exist to help women embrace life for their children to the point that abortion would never even cross their minds.
I am so grateful to the volunteers, activists, and pro-life leaders who have worked for decades now to blaze the trail for life. Supporting women and families in need, volunteering at pregnancy care centers, fostering and adopting, counseling outside of abortion clinics, educating others with the facts about abortion, passing state laws, electing pro-life politicians—all these efforts and more have helped save lives and change hearts. This victory would not have been possible without you.
On June 24, the Supreme Court took a step toward justice. Babies have already been saved and will continue to be because of this decision. But we haven't achieved full justice yet. We're going to work state by state for legal protections, while simultaneously putting in the work for cultural change. And we have to keep on urging the Supreme Court to take a final step toward justice and assert that there is a constitutional right to life for all children in the womb. Our work is just getting started.
