Police are still investigating the disappearance of 20-month-old boy Quinton Simon in Georgia, with protesters gathering outside his mother's home.
His mother Leilani Simon, 22, is the prime and only suspect in the child's disappearance.
She was sentenced in April to 12 months of probation in a burglary case, according to court records.
Quinton Simon was last seen on October 5, at 6 a.m. at an address in the 500 block of Buckhalter Road, Savannah. He was reported missing at approximately 9.40 a.m. by his mother.
Investigators have said that Quinton Simon's father is not a person of interest in his son's disappearance. Authorities believe the boy is dead.
Chatham Police and the FBI began a thorough search for Quinton Simon's remains in the Savannah Waste Management Landfill, where the boy is thought to be after his body was likely disposed of in a dumpster.
Police paused the digging after Hurricane Nicole hit Florida, and started moving towards Georgia this week.
Newsweek has contacted the Chatham Police for comment.
Police have arrested at least five protesters gathering outside the Simon family's home.
On November 2, protesters could be seen screaming into an open window at the home while the missing boy's grandmother was sitting inside.
Among the arrested was YouTuber Jimmy Williams. Williams, who goes by the name of "Dolly", was booked into Chatham County jail.
William's YouTube channel "DOLLY VISION" has around 26,400 followers.
On his channel, Williams speaks different people who sees as associated with Quinton Simon's disappearance. Among them was someone who claimed to be the sister of an ex-boyfriend of Leilani Quinton, who spoke disparagingly of Leilani in the video. He also interviewed someone who claimed to be a babysitter for Leilani Quinton. Both of the interviewees kept their identities secret.
In a disturbing turn of events, the toddler's grandfather was killed last week in a hit-and-run in Burke County.
Burke County sheriff's deputies found 61-year-old Henry Dale "Bubba" Moss Sr., of Girard, near the 9900 block of Highway 23 around 7:20 a.m. on November 2. He died at the scene. Police believe he was hit between 5:30 a.m. and the time he was found.
The Burke County Sheriff is offering a reward for information who leads to the individual responsible.
