Police in Dallas are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot and killed Thursday night at a Raising Cane's drive-thru while sitting in the rear passenger seat of a car.
At around 10:40 p.m. police responded to a report of a shooting at the fast food establishment, and found that the teenager, Zuri Andre Goff, had been shot multiple times while sitting in a Nissan Sentra, according to the Dallas Police Department.
"Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased," the department wrote in a statement on its website, adding that the "motive and circumstances surrounding this murder are under investigation."
Texas news station WFAA reported that police said two suspects exited the restaurant and got into an altercation with someone in the drive-thru before opening fire into the car and fleeing.
Chi Ballard, Goff's mother, spoke with the news station and said: "I don't know why this happened to my baby. I want his killers to stand trial, and I want them to look me in my face and tell me why they took my baby away from me."
She added that her son "was just learning about life and figuring things out at his age. I don't know who Zuri had issues with, but whatever it was—it wasn't worth his life."
Goff's grandmother, Charlene Ballard, told WFAA: "Whoever did this to my grandbaby, I hope they get you and put you in a cell so deep that you don't see the light of day."

In a statement to news station KCAS, Raising Cane's said: "We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragedy that occurred in our drive through last night. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is always our top priority. We are fully cooperating with the authorities as they continue their investigation."
Newsweek reached out to the Dallas Police Department for more details about the shooting, and any updates regarding their investigation, but did not receive a response before publication on Saturday morning.
The fatal shooting at the Raising Cane's restaurant is the latest of several violent incidents that have taken place at drive-thrus around the country.
At a McDonald's restaurant in Missouri in January, police accused a woman of shooting a McDonald's employee after a dispute over a french fry discount.
In Los Angeles in January, police said that a customer at a Taco Bell shot and killed an employee after the worker declined to accept counterfeit money at the drive-thru window.
And in December, a woman in Ohio was arrested after she allegedly opened fire into a Wendy's drive-thru lane after she got upset over how long her order was taking. No one was injured during the incident.
